LGB 22871 French Mikado

Them Yooropean locos are pretty darn sneaky…anyhow, your green froggly loco DOES belong to a railroad - it’s called SNCF - the French National Railway Company.

You may of may not know that the 141R loco’s were actually US-built for the purpose of revitalising the mostly-destroyed French railways after five years of being bombed…

So you can tell visitors that it’s a ‘trial loco’…

Nice loco, nice cars. BUT!!! 4’ radius, I don’t think so.

The LGB loco supposedly can, but I doubt the coaches will. Not without some heavy modifications to the trucks.

I like how you think ,tac

but here’s my story…

The Engine was due to be scrapped by the French Railroad (being replaced by some new-fangled “Magnetronical” thing that goes Eleventy Hundred MPH) so it was bought, and returned to its place of origin (The Good Old USA) where it would be cared for,as the treasure it really is…and then i run it as fast as i can,so no one can read those two teeny tiny SNCF logos…

How’s that for ENGINE-uity???

I’m working on the track issue too ,Tony…

trying to convince dad he doesn’t need to run his track around the “borders” ,like he did when he used to run his lionel trains in a rectangle shape…

if it works,i should be able to get him to put in a loop approximately 10’ x 20’ ,with big, smooth curves at the ends…

only thing i don’t know yet is what LGB curve to buy…i just don’t know how big of a circle the other curves make…

Well ,Ric...it is Dads Railroad...so he's the only guy that needs to really be happy with it :)
My dad has a nice RR but nothing makes him happy! I agree with Ric's rules though.

Don’t get me started on that ,David…

Dad has this thing about everything going back in its box…so i catch heck every time i try to put brake-wheels or grab-railings on something…it’s always “I hope you can take that off again so i can put it back in its box when I’m done” …it drives me nuts sometimes…

…grinning…

GREAT NEWS ,EVERYONE!!!

We talked to the fellow who sold us the French Mikado (he was at the ECLSTS ,and i just learned today ,a member here) and he ordered us a Phoenix Sound Unit ,at a very fair price…AND it’s already on its way to us…

So i guess it’s time to button up this thread  and make my way over to the sound Forum ,so i can pick a few brains about the install…

Thank You ,Everyone for the help and info…

Zimo has decoders that have switch inputs for bell and whistle triggers and the motor back EMF triggers the chuff.
