I purchased my Mogul in pieces, loco first, then later the tender. (price point purchases) I was pleased with what I got when hooked up and ran the combo, tender was sounding and the chuff sound matched the speed. Horn sound on acceleration only. Today I added the track magnet trigger, the bell rings!

My questions, So are these sounds correct for the LGB Mogul? Are there any changes by using more magnets? The reason I ask, the tender I got has the wrong color wheels, red not black. These must have been put together by the previous owner. I don’t have any operation info for this Mogul. Last question, does someone have the manual for the 2219S?

Only trains has the service manual, but it doesn’t have info on operating, just parts.

Thank you. I did find this, I guess I was hoping there was more. Maybe an operation manual too. I did find a couple videos posted of the running Mogul, from them, there must not be any more than I have already discovered running mine.

I don’t have any LGB engines that haven’t been converted to RailPro, so it’s been sometime since I had any LGB engines that operated this way, stock sounds. I thought the way the magnets were turned in the track made either the whistle, or the bell ring, but I could be wrong on this, someone else should correct me on this if I’m wrong. As far a Red Wheels there should be no difference, but I would paint those wheels to match the engine wheels, Red looks toy like on a Mogul. Not sure a manual would help you much, but would probably answer this question.

Track magnets are for bell and whistle, as John said. Turn the magnet in the opposite direction and you will hear the horn.
No it is not the correct mogul sound, just a generic steam sound. I have found the factory chuffs to be a bit off as well. (Prototype is four beats per driver rotation).
But if you are satisfied, that’s what counts.
The Pennsy 2219S should have black wheels. You can just paint them.
