Dave Meashey’s modifications to the LGB 2090 motivated me. A few odd’s n ends out of the junk box put a slight American feel to this one. This small switcher works on the branchline - for whatever reason the local crew can’t keep it clean.
John;
Looks great! My modifications were made before Ozark and Trackside Details were started. Each horn was 1/2 an HO 55gal oil drum, a short length of brass tubing, some brass rod stock, and a Plastruct HO commercial lamp shade. The headlights were made from 1/2 inch and 1/8 inch brass tubing. I sharpened some scrap 1/2 inch brass tubing and used it to cut the lenses and backs from clear acrylic sheet. Your headlights look a lot better.
The locomotive is presently on consignment at my local hobby shop.
Best wishes,
David Meashey
P.S. OOPS! Just realized that my locomotive has a Trackside Details bell, so some of their stuff must have been in production. Perhaps it was just that diesel horns and modern headlights were not available as yet. I know that I would have been too lazy to make them myself if they were commercially available.
Just gotta love those little engines.
I really like how easy it is to remove the hood and then install a decoder. Getting under the hood you just push the button on the lower front!!
