Ah ha. When I travel to towns I haven’t been to before, and am looking for something to eat, Chinese restaurants are my first choice. I only at at one that had bad food.

But you survived, eh?

Hans, yes I survived. I also will not go back to that one.

I didn’t look at these MTH engines as I felt they were too old for my RR. Now that I have, I’m happy I did. I mounted the supplied electric proto-couplers and fixed pilots to the body. They have nice wheels. It’s a great switcher package with smoke, sound, electric couplers, etc. I can see why some guys are fired up when they hear about them!(http://www.largescalecentral.com/public/album_photo/b0/ca/01/1c7e7_023f.jpg?c=194c)

My USAT SD70Mac runs just beautifully on battery power. It can pull a ton. It does require track curves at least 10’ in diameter.

This is my very favorite steam loco - an LGB Mikado that I’ve numbered 4076. And it has a history. AT&SF 4076 was one of three locomotives that the AT&SF parked on the Kaw River bridge in Topeka, Kansas, when the river was flooding in 1951. The idea was that the weight of the locomotives would keep the bridge from washing away, but the ploy didn’t work. 4076 was washed away with the bridge and was never found. I’ve resurrected its number even if the original was not a Mikado.

Here is an S4 that I recently repainted to resemble the Bay Colony RR that used to occasionally pull freight through my hometown in the 80’s.

Here is a link to a photo of the original I was tryign to copy. https://www.google.com/search?q=bay+colony+RR&biw=1272&bih=623&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=LhaPVJ_GBIS_sQS3_4HYAg&ved=0CDIQsAQ#facrc=&imgdii=&imgrc=5SeEQG5mqoSkhM%253A%3BKd2ZvdZYH654lM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fbaycolonyrailtrail.org%252Fgallery2%252Fd%252F219-3%252FBCLR1061_Dover_Center.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fbaycolonyrailtrail.org%252Fv%252FMisc%252FBCLR1061_Dover_Center.jpg.html%3B313%3B199
I thought the stack topper was interesting so I had to copy that.

Nice job, Todd. I like the stack. Did you do the painting, or farm that out to the shops?

Hi Todd!
Great work on the s-4! I’m surprised there weren’t more stack toppers for the old S-4s as they tend to blow a bit of soot when the turbo kicks up.

Not to shabby there Todd !
Did Stan do your decals?
You did good!

Thanks guys.
I did the painting using rattle cans put the “dirt” on with a brush. The decals were made from my computer and printed out using decal paper. It worked very well.
I also installed a mylocosound unit in it but I’m having trouble getting it to function right.
Overall I’m very happy with the way this one turned out. Next is to put the railings on but first is to get the sound right.

I agree!

Nice job Todd i looked at your link noticed that 1061 was a S2 only one with that stack and the seagull was facing the other way. but i still like yours.

richard

Nice work Todd. The s4 is such a good canvas for alco fans(like me).Like the engine house in the background .

I am kinda new to this forum and haven’t posted much. I have mostly live steam and have been dabbling in 7/8" scale (1:13.7) Here is my latest engine which started life as an Accucraft Emma:

Since this post was started I have found some more engines!

Wow Sean did you hit the lotto? That Hudson is a beauty.

Will the Atlantic Coast lines get the B+M paint job?

Speaking of beauties Eric that Forney is super nice.

Glad to see you Here Eric. I really enjoy seeing your creations, not to mention watching you build them. The Live steam section here needs more contributions IMHO, so get creative!

PS: That’s a really nice shot too. I can feel the mist settling on my nose.

Just arrived, my latest acquisition, something I have wanted for a very VERY long time:

I got it courtesy of our own Stan Cedarleaf, after many hours of protracted high pressure negotiations…well not really, he offered, and I instantly said “YES”

Believe it or not…with a little tweeking to the rear truck this could work on the pizza!!!

But instead I’m planning to rebuilt the R1 loop on the pizza I had a couple years ago, but dismantled. I should have just kept it in retrospect. oh well now I get to build it anew.

The only locomotive I’m proud of right now is my SD45.

I managed to buy one of the last production runs of the high nose NS ones from Aristo. Run that with the Dash-9 that Scott gave me, the only non Santa Fe locos I have.

The SD45 was arguably the best locomotive Aristo built.

Greg

Bob,

Very realistic weathering on your SD45!
