Yep, still working on those magazine articles. One of the chores is producing maps for the different locations under discussion. I guess one could do that by drawing the “stuff” from a printed map and get it more or less right.
Or there is the second possibility:
Use MS “Streets and Maps”, zoom to what is wanted, copy paste into Adobe, open a new layer and merrily paint all the required features from the map selection onto that layer, using the MS map as the rough template. In my case just the basics, like lakes and rivers. Then draw in the rail lines - those are always missing in the MS S&M software - save the layer as a separate graphic, import to COREL Draw and do the rest!
Since it is hand drawn, it looks like hand drawn. No infringements of copyrights!
