LBM-StL a small electric railway

Small industry railways are fun to find and get photos of the operated as needed trains . Lucky today to see this LBM-StE train .

You really are having too much fun. Great pictures.

That second shot is really nice - great stuff. I love those little electrics - grew up near a mine that used similar ones in England.

Very nice! What kind of cars are those?

The cars are the same old flats or low side gondolas , with a new casting that looks like a canvas cover over a A frame that snaps into the slots of the flats , only new piece is the canvas tarp casting , which looks nice . The LBM-StE set comes with 2 cars . New this year is a DR covered flat with the casting of the tarp and A frame , which I also purchased at Watts , and cobbled up a additional car to match the other 2 . The cars in use today by the real RR , are metal , and have doors in the ends , and I belive the entire car is lowered on one end and the end doors are opened to empty the car , maybe . Much like our grain trucks here in the midwest are emptied with their onboard hyd lift . So like a lot of other things I buy , its not correct , but from a distance squinting , on the layout , it looks ok to me . The little electric loco is pretty cl;ose to the real one , [ except for the cast red handrails , yuk , they need painted ] . Runs like a dream on the layout , and for a modeling idea , the LBM-StE is a 6.2 mile railway , started with the 2 little e-loks , and a few cars , perfect little railway to try and copy in your yard at home . Look at the photo website to see how close the loco is … http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/at/private/StLB/narrow_gauge/electric/pix.html enjoy and share the joy .

Dennis,

Thanks for the link. Boy if you got rid of the red, it would really look close. Maybe there is red on all those pieces if not covered with grime from the electric carbon. Excellent!
