Lazertran Decals?

I just found Lazertran Decal paper at my local art supply store. Does anyone have any experience with this product?

The instructions claim the decals are able to transfer white images, etc. onto wood and plastic or to blend the image to a clear background.

Here’s what I found when I googled:

Looks pretty cool.

That does look promising.
I wonder if my color laser printer will work.
I can use standard inkjet waterslide paper.
How much does it cost?

I bought 10 8.5 x 11 inch sheets for $25 +/-. In reading the instructions and tips online it will print and transfer with a white background but can be "melted into the surface" with turpentine. It can be left with a white background or finished clear with oil spirit varnish.

This is all true to the best of my understanding from the packaging. I will post back with my results. Anyone wishing a certified notarized version of those results will need to send a SASE along with a $5.00 S&H charge to me.

I just went to the site and read “how it works”. One thing puzzled me. It says that after printing and drying for at least 30 minutes you can put the decal in water to separate the backing. It says nothing about putting a protective coating over the ink before putting it in water. Inkjet inks are for the most part not water proof so what is going to keep the ink from dissolving away when you follow their instructions.
I’ll be interested to what your results are David.

I just got some white vinyl that you print on, then just peel and stick it on. Should be fine for shields/etc that have an edge. For lettering, you would have to surround it with the car color, or a band of color. So it’s not good for all applications but good for some. Del Taprio did some shay builder plaques for me, so I thought I’d try it out myself. papilio.com

The site says the inkjet inks penetrate and become part of the decal.

So, sounds like this cannot happen on a laser, since it uses toner, not ink. Dave, it specifically addresses your question of waterproof, your answer is in the very first paragraph.
