I got the 3d, and last, wood stock car done. One on the right I did a couple of years ago, center one this last winter. Still need to get my wife to cut me some lettering for the last one, with the Marx toy cowboy sitting in the door. I left this one empty, with the doors open, the other two have some cows in them.
Sweet!
Nice group Jerry
Jerry,
Those are very well done!
I love the finish on the wood.
Rick
They look great.
Very, very nice!
I still think Nascar would be more interesting if they raced these kind of “stock cars”.
great looking cars, Jerry…
Cmon guys I dont hate on the NFL…dont hate on NASCAR…hehehehehe
Whoa, I can almost smell the cattle. They look great.
Dave
I take it you were building with popsicle sticks again! That is a nice group. Have you tackled a loadinging ramp yet for the cows? That one has been rolling around in the brain the past few days!
Thanks you all for your kind comments.
No Doug, wood coffee stir sticks, about half the size/thickness of popsicle sticks.
I drink my coffee black so I wouldn’t have stir sticks! Or the patience!
Roaming around here in the archives a couple of years later. I just stumbled across this and want to express my supreme admiration, Jerry!
Thanks John, looking like a long winter, may have to make another one!
Jerry, since the thread is revived - could you give me the length, width and height of the carbodies?
Jerry Barnes said:hmmmm, so basically, the title for this topic isn't correct.... hehehe.... sorry, Jerry.... I just had to... :)
Thanks John, looking like a long winter, may have to make another one!
Korm, I made them in 1/32nd scale to go with my MDC cars. 13" long(including end beams) Side beams are 3/8". Walls on top of them are 3 1/4". Fronts are 4" wide and 3 1/2" tall. I have quite a few pix I could email you, so write to me and I’ll have your email and send them back. I have the plans in 1/32 also.

I’ve often looked at those stir sticks with stockcars in mind. I have a bunch of them on standby here, and may employ a few in this year’s challenge build.
I would have been tempted, as I usually am, to build a group of cars while I’m at it, while Jerry seems to be making his fleet one car at a time. I guess he’s younger than I am, or feels young! I feel like I’m running out of time, but I kind of enjoy the production-line process anyway!
I’ve seen UP yellow stockcars from B’mann and they just looked billious to me, so these homemade cars of yours really looked outstanding!
I would like to know more, Jerry, about your painting/weathering process, which looks splendid. It made my eyes pop! I hope a brief runthrough from you is not too much to ask for.
Thanks John, I’ll be 69 next month. I mostly weather them with india ink washes. I do the inside before I put the roof on, I also drop some brown acrylic here and there for what the cows leave. Dry brush a bit of UP yellow on here and there. Roof is thin craft metal I embossed some lines in and sprayed with ruddy primer, with a light overspray right away of another rust looking color for spots. Send me an email and I’ll send you some extra pix of the building process and the simple plans. I did find a neat set of plans yesterday on the ETWNC site.
