Large Scale Central

Larry's 2016 Build Challenge

Believe it or not I am posting my sketch for MIK’S 2016 Challenge. The model will become psrt of Dave Taylor’s layout at 1 to 22.5 scale. Fairly simple with 20’ by 40’ nominal dimensions, board and batten walls, shutter windows open dock and 20 posts for the foundation. Dave wants to call it an Oil Shed.

I will post some more photos of my progress tomorrow on the Challenge. Larry [The New Old Man from NM]

Sweet NOMNM (New Old Man from New Mexico)

That is a very nice looking building.

Cool, Larry. Can’t wait to see the progress. Dave will have a very nice Oil Shed when your done.

Cool! It looks like the Wiscasset station on the former WW&F railway!

Nice building. Looking forward to this.

I am enclosing, in the appropriate spot, the progress I have made in the Lubrication or Oil Shed for the MIK 2016 Challange, in which I am not competing because of early notification from Dave T. who lives within 2 miles of me and we gather for breakfast weekly to lie about how good we used to be! Any how here are the photos. I’ll be completing the battens soon. Larry,

Wow Larry, Nice start. It’s really looking good already. I think Dave will be quite pleased with it.

Great progress, Larry. This will be a nice building when complete. Keep the photos coming.

My progress to 2/2/16: Finally all the battens, all 95 of them are glued on the building. see photos. next is the operable 6’ x 7’ door. Then the roof plywood and finally the corrugated tin. LAB aka The New Old Man From NM.

Larry, add realism with a electrical meter on the building side.

Ron: I am working onthe Meter base but the code presents a ptoblem. The ground rod… Any how here is my progress on Dave’s Lube Shack. The roof is on with the exception of the ridge tin. I am going to add a moveable loading platform with stairs. Then I am done. Unless Dave wants a satellite… Larry AKA NOMFNM

Very nice Larry.

Cool! it looks great!

are yo going to paint it, or is it done?

Pretty Sharp looking building.Nice work!!

That is a well made and beautiful structure Larry. It would grace any fine large scale railroad. I am sure the railroad company will be delighted with it.

nice work

Looks very good larry. I’m going to enjoy seeing your future adventures and posts. I Like Korm, am wondering about paint?
