St. Aubin’s and LSOL.COM in a joint effort?

While I enjoy supporting St. Aubins, I do not support LSOL. (ergo, why I’m here, not there).
I hope this joint effort is short termed. I don’t want to have to find another great dealer in Large Scale because of the “company they keep”.

Well, as I replied to someone who sent me a head’s up regarding that “deal”: I never was a member at LySOL, I never bought anything from St.Aubin and I don’t see a reason why that should change at all for the rest of my life. It’s just one of those things, eh! 
Well I was a member there at one time and I’m about as likely to go there now as you are…! :o
I saw the ad, so I thought I’d check out what you’d get as a member. One of their offerings is STA0002-LGB45775 - LGB Log Disconnect Truck Set #2 - If you join, you can get them for $109.99!!!
Or you can go to Ridge Road Station and get them for $109.99; but then you don’t get to join anything. The difference seems to be that Ridge Road has a higher list price.
…that and if Ridge Road says they have it, they have it.
Indeed–I’ve tried to order something from St Aubins four times, and each time they have called me a day or two later to say no, they don’t actually have it. It’s actually very decent of them to call, and shows a good concern for customer relations, but it would be better to not list it as in stock if you don’t have it
It’s a good deal, but i just can’t get over joining a site for $40 a year.
I remember when for free you could at least read the forum, but then they took that away too.
I consider LSOL different than a forum, its more like a club, an exclusive pay to join club, and after starting on the free GR forum, then participating on MSL and LSC, both of which are free to anyone to participate on, something about that “pay to play” just rubs me the wrong way.
Sheesh Vic, I thought you would like that exclusivity. First disappointment for this week.

I haven’t ordered from St Aubin’s since they got me on an Accucraft Mimi… They advertised a super low price-- then they charged something like $20 as a separate item for the shipping from the factory to THEM (rather than have it built in to the retail price like everybody else). So it LOOKED cheaper, but in the end it wasn’t. I thought the practice was sleazy at best, and haven’t ordered from them since
