Large Scale Central

Large Scale show in Kansas City in May

Is anyone going to attend the Heart of America Garden Railroad Show in Kansas City?
I have heard some good things about what they are trying to do. I saw a flyer for it at this weekends Great Train Expo.

I will be there as part of a contingent from the Wichita Garden Railway Society (WAGRS). Considering that this is the first large scale show in the central region of the U.S., I will be happy for whatever is there! So far, WAGRS will be having a layout and will be joining at least five other large scale clubs with displays at the show. In addition, there will be at least twelve local garden railroads that will be on “tour” during the convention.
The organizers have booked a block of rooms at the Sheraton Hotel (which is connected to the convention center) and have a pretty good deal for anyone coming to the show! It also makes it easy to get back to your room after a late night steam-up!
Speaking of that, I asked one of the show’s promoters if there would be a live steam track and the plans are for there to be one! Some details still need to be ironed out but I would be terribly surprised if there wasn’t one! (I emphasized how much one would enhance the show!)
The vendor list continues to grow and it looks like we will have some very interesting items to peruse! They are also lining up some great workshops that I know will be of interest to large scalers! All in all, HAGRS is starting to really excite me! I hope to see many of you there!

Saddness! Can’t go. Giving Finals at the University.

We’ll be there with the entire, or at least most, of the Gateway Garden Railroad Club membership and modular layout. Look forward to a fun event and meeting lots of the KC people plus some of those we see at Marty’s every year.

The Sheraton has lowered the rate for a room to 94.00 per night. This is the hotel that is connected to the Convention Center. If you stay in the motel, you also get free admission into the show.

There was also some concern regarding the cancellation clause for rooms. That has also been removed.

It has been remarkable the work the Hotel, Convention Center and the Visitors Bureau has put into this event. there are many extras that will be announced.

I highly recommend anyone to make arrangements to attend this Large Scale Event.

there will be many Vendors, manufacturers, clinics, and railroads. Also many items that can only be found at this show.

Any questions. Please contact me at 913-406-3400

I’ll be there, and several other central Arkansas folks will be there.

I just landed a job in Iowa, but I will still be attending. I hope there are lots of vendors. I need a tender for an LGB mogul and some parts…
