Large Scale Central

Large Halt

I purchased a large Halt kit from Lineside Delights , P.no.LD030, to try out a resin model kit. the following pictures show the product almost finished. i have to paint the gutter and repaint the downpipe but so far all looks ok. The windows were completely cast and I cut out the panes and glued some clear syrene to the inside. other than that it is as bought.

Then i decided it would look better on a platform. I had some 4.5mm acrylic so i bashed up this:-

sorry about the photo quality. the platform has a ramp at one end and stairs at the other I then decided some fencing would be in order so i began to manufacture some. I had purchased some (1000) wooden ON30 ties from fast tracks and thought they would be good pickets. here is the start of the Halt, platform and picket fence

Of course then the stairs needed some balustrading

That is where I am at the moment. I intend the fence to cover the complete rear of the platform and ramp. The platform will need some kind of finish but as yet I am not sure what to do, other than grey paint as per a concrete look. now I can see through the windows I might need some curtains to prevent people seeing that there is nothing inside. I will post some more as I progress, any comments, other details needed appreciated. Dave

After I finish this Large Halt I want to try and Model this:-

This is a small Halt on the 3’6" narrow gauge line in North Queensland. It runs from Chillagoe to Mareeba. I thinks is still used occasionally but the train, the Savannah, stops at Almaden.

some of the track out of Almaden has been torn up

and the line finishes about 15 km out of Chillagoe

Neat. I like that little Petford depot.

Petford for me!

Thats a nice station kit, very British looking

I have added some details to the Halt. Posters and station sign. Also made the edges like brick paving but it needs a bit of weathering. Next is to add some lights. that should about do it I think

Reynella is the suburb I live in, there was a railway through here many years ago, but was torn up and is now a bike track. Regards Dave

Neat little station…

The platform really sets it off nice. Defenitley do lights!

Dave,

Great job! I notice you painted the fencing too. Lighting will definately set it off.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s GREAT as-is, but I thinkit really needs a dog, a small terrier type, the one that just wanders around sniffing at everything. Don’t ask me why I think so, I just do
