Lady Anne kit built chassis running on air

Got my Lady Anne chassis kit built up. Just pinned the return cranks and set final valve timing. Runs beautifully in forward motion on 5-10psi air. Take a bit more, 15-18ish to get it moving in reverse but the motion doesnt stay in full reverse motion since there is no lever hooked to it yet. Once my hands are freed up from firing up the air brush compressor, I can stick it full gear and bring the pressure down to closer to the front. But it does run a bit slower in reverse gear. Link takes you to a video if it running Mike

Looking good. One of these days I plan on doing the same but using the Americanized frames that Eric designed for it. I icked up a set of the frames from Jay while at York.

Nice, but it kind of sounds like a diesel

That might be that darn compressor sitting on the floor making it run LMAO! Mike

Use plenty of oil - Roundhouse run their chassis in for eight hours…

tac, ig the dry, ken the GFT & The Humour-free Boys

I know they do Tac, I have the old VHS video showing that. But its a steam rig so they are running on proper steam power with lubrication. All I was doing was putting some light machine oil down the air tube, and I prelubed everything before I put the cylinder top plates on. Mike

Please don’t put any more ‘light machine oil’ down the air tube. Getting that stuff into the superheater tube on the first firing will probably close the superheater down flat in half a second.

Since its not going in any superheater tube, only out the exhaust I highly doubt there will be a problem. I have duel air lines since I dont have the boiler kit in my hands yet, so I dont have that superheater tube. So, how will that oil get to that tube? Its in the cylinders and probably mostly out the exhaust now. Anyhow, Jason just posted on another forum that there was a package from Roundhouse waiting on him when he got home from Cabin Fever that has my boiler and body kit. So it wont be long till the Lady Anne is ready for steam. Mike

'kay.

It will be running on steam soon, my stuff is in at Jay’s. Busy working on the railway and other spring related activities. Mike
