Ladder Track Bed Question - Again

Don, the proper term is you failed retirement! As did I but I do like what I do not all the chrap I have to put with to do it. I would much rather be working on and running trains!

Paul

Paul,

My part time job isn’t that bad. I know if they give me any crap I can quit!!

I use the 2x PT lumber method myself, in the air and on the ground. I tried just about every other method of building roadbed, but over 27 years, the PT 2x, works the best for me and this area of the World. Yes, Paul; the “T” profile is great for above ground.

On the ground we don’t use any type of post. We just prop the roadbed up with anything; dead body parts; old wash tubs; bricks; old dentures and even somebodies’ mother-lin-law’s underwear, in order to get the levels we want; then back fill it all with earth and gravel.

Above ground, we use “Deck Blocks” and 4x4 posts. The posts in the blocks, never rot.

Somehow it works for us…
