Large Scale Central

Lack of motor blocks for kitbashes, a short rant.

LGB is once again making the motor block (66095) for the LCE train and it comes with the light kit for both engines.

This is the same block used in the power tenders and many engines.

It is available here in the USA, a stocked item at Train-Li any may not be on the web site yet.

I don’t call it a blatant ad Stan. You are just being helpful!

Vic, while you’re talking with Phil, you might ask about pricing and availability of Big John bricks, which have spoked/counterweighted wheels and tie rods.

Cliff

G scale kitbashing potential is pretty high on this one - now, whose motor block to employ?

Edit – hmm, the Facebook groupies I got the link from weren’t reporting trojan warnings - at the time - given the reports here though, I’m taking the link out.

Edit #2, also went to On30 Group on Yahoo where it turns out I had the page bookmarked from a thread notice email in that group from, as it turns out 2007, and let Jeff know about these from current.

Forrest,

The link provided came up with a Trojan and was denied by my anti-virus application. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)

I haven’t followed the link for fear of trojans, but if it’s the blue chain drive thing I think I is, I can’t really think of any off the shelf block that will work - they’re all too long or too tall. Nearest is probably the Bachmann Peter wire truck mentioned earlier in this thread - fairly low, smallish wheels, but probably too long. Stretch the wheelbase and hide the rest of the sins under a suitably portly driver.

I wonder. Since I have never done it I wonder how hard it would be to cobble up a motor block. I have a few DOA Bachmann 10 wheelers I could scrounge wheels from.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable on making drive units could chime in. I am sure someone has done this.

The link didn’t work, but I did find these photos of #39
