LA&C RR's #4 rebuilt 2-8-0

My drive gear broke so I ordered a BBT drive to install. The gear box is strong, quiet & makes it run like a champ. The install is straight forward. The only difference I did was modify my rear weight instead of adding a different one. Thanks for a great drive barry! So, while I had the loco pulled apart I did some front end work on it. I raised the headlight to match the other LA&C RR locos with a track side details mount. I made a new smoke box door as the other one had to many mold marks in it. I think it came out well, just waiting on a number plate.

Looking good Terry. I had a BBT drive installed in my Connie by Jonathan Bliese earlier this year. It really does make a very nice engine-smooth and quiet. I ordered some parts from Ozark to change the look of the front truck. Also tons of Trackside Details to add some detail to the locomotive.

Nice job Terry,

The 2-8-0’s are great bashing material and you have done a good job on yours.
Barry’s drives are the best and easy to install. I have done 3 of them now and
they all run flawlessly.

I also modified the original cast iron weights to fit.

Thanks, everyone. If I can be of any help, let me know.

Great job!

Somebody really ought to start a sticky photo thread of all the various bashes of these things… just for those who keep asking “What was Bachmann thinking when they decided to produce such an obscure export engine?”

It might not have been what they actually had in mind, but it worked out pretty good… except for the axle gear, and a few other minor glitches. (like forgetting the throttle lever!)

Mik,

They HAD to leave something out, so we could do some detailing!

Great idea about a sticky photo thread.

I started a thread but i think Bob has to make it a sticky
