Large Scale Central

L&N Depot, Foley, Al

Here are a few pictures from the L&N Depot in Foley, Al. The depot is pretty cool. They have a diesel switcher, two boxcars and a caboose.

In another building behind the depot is a nice O scale layout.

In nearby Silverhill is a campground that has steam train rides. They weren’t running the day I was there.

Neat!! I see a lot of old preserved stations while I’m driving down south. I just wish I had the time to get some pix of them.

That’s some cute little engines they have there…

Nice pics and info , which led to this search and link for the Wales West train , intersting .

Ralph - thanks for the excellent photos of that fine lookin’ depot. Mind you, it’s only what one one expect from a place named after my own family.

As for the WalesWest railway - what a real delight to see that!! Thanks, Dennis!!!

BTW - the tacs and their ig are off to mid-Wales next weekend to the Llanfair & Welshpool RR Gala weekend and largest garden railway show in the UK. If anybody wants pics, I’m more than happy to take them and put them on a CD for ya.

I was disappointed the trains weren’t running. They had some flooding rains about an hour before I arrived. Even while I was at the depot it was raining most of the time. Got just enough of a break in the rain to get a few photos.
I wish I had gone back a little later in the week. But you know how vacations are…too much to do and too little time to do it.
