KVRWY November OPS WEEKEND

Starting a new post, since this is getting closer.

October 31, November 1&2, 2008

Plans are to do a tour of Andy and Jane Clarke’s “Bluestone Southern” on Friday afternoon, about 28 miles south of Carlyle. Super will probably be at “the Greecian Restuarant” in Pickneyville. They have a buffet.

Saturday - Ops starts about Noon. Early arrivals will be involved in setup. About 4 pm, we will break for a little “grillin” and then see what happens after that.

Sunday - OPs starts at Noon. Early arrivals will be called into service to correct the mistakes of Saturday.
Sunday night dinner at a local establishment in Carlyle.

Sounds like a great plan.

We’re really looking forward to this.

What’s this showers thing for next weekend???

Means bring a raincoat or an umbrella…

Showers at Ric's means ""showering accorns or leaves, or both"" Umbrellas, hard hats, hip waders are sometimes required equipment........

hehehe

It’s all just part of the realistic scenery. We have grass, bricks and concrete, usually not to bad. Looks like dry weather for Andy’s on Friday, trust me, we want that.

I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. Now it says partly cloudy for Friday through Sunday. In the 60’s.

Thanks for getting it changed, Ric.

Yes, forecast has already updated to nicer weather. We are suppose to be back in the 70’s this week, however tonight we are predicted to have our first hard freeze. Winds is blowing with considerable intensity, it comes with Fall around here.

Comes with not having proper mountains to block the breeze! heheehehehhehe

I was in Pompano Beach Fl on Tues. When I woke up in was 46 out. The guy at the guard shack where I was making a delivery looked like Nanook of the North and was complaining about the cold. 46 in in PA at this time of year is warm…guess it’s all relative…

Forecast for the next 3 days is a high of 70 degrees with just a few clouds and beautiful Fall weather. Steam track is up, thanks to AndyC’s help and people should start arriving around noon. I always promise to take pictures and I’m always slow to get them loaded. Will strive to do better.

have fun everyone. I’m going to miss this one.

Have a great time guys. Maybe next year :frowning:

Friday is in the bag. Doug Matheson arrived around 10 am and Bart and Ken went straight to AndyC’s. Bruce got caught up in the airlline wars and an afternoon arrival turned into a late night arrival. Doug and the Goldings arrived at the Bluestone Southern around 3 pm and we all ran for familiarization with the layout. Heat was getting to all of us as the sun was extremely warm. Dinner was at the Greecian Steakhouse in Pickneyveille with more conversation afterwards back at the Clarke’s. Yeap, forgot the camera.

Bruce and Jean are headed down there this AM and hopefully will take some photos.

6:30 am and temp is 50 degrees. Should be a great day.

I’m green with envy

It was 80 here at 6:30 a.m.

Guess I will have to go see the train at that zoo so I don’t feel totaly left out of everything.
:frowning:

I’m here in Vancouver, WA, the temp is mild, but the wid is howling. I was planning on taking a trip to the Gorge to do some railfanning, but have put that off until the wind calms down a bit.

Why you were all playing some of us were working. got some new pictures up on the website of the work I did this summer on the railroad. new pictures start half way on page 2 and go from there. here is a small shot of one of them.
