Kittatinny Mt version of EBT M3

For a while now I have been thinking about kitbashing my HLW railcar woodey into something a little less toylike and something that woud fit the KMR. Not really knowing what I wanted to do with it I put the project on hold. This past Sunday while at Steamtown I got a chance to see Geoff’s EBT M3. I have always liked the look of the M3 and thought about converting the HLW into something like that.
Since I have been home with Pneumonia this week I figured it would be a good project to do while sick. I took out my styrene and coffee stir sticks, some glue, knife, ruler and pencile. I started first with taking the HLW apart and glueing styrene sheets to the frame.
At this point I just have to add some trim, make the door and windows and add some details. Im not sure what Im going to do about the lights. I might just leave the two front lights on and maybe add back lights. Then its off to the paint shop.
I could not find what color the body is. Is it just red with a wash in black?

Sorry Andy for the useless thread but will get some pictures as soon as I get the energy to look for camera. LOL

This is how the M3 looks today. In the fiftys, she had a dark green engine cowl, no cow catcher. When first built it may have beeen all black or dark green (hard to tell from B&W photos). Geoff

Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Waiting with baited breath.

That’s a fishing joke, son. :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought the M3 was a sprts car from BMW…

The Kittatinny RR got their version of the M3 completed after getting delayd for a few weeks. The Climax brought it to the layton yard for some pictures. The guys built this from a HLW woody car. They liked the EBTs M3 so they built something close to it but backwoods style.

Shawn;
Looks really nice.I’m ready for a ride on it.
Lets see, where did I put my shrink-down pills.
Hope you get well soon.

David

Looks like the backwoods boys spent every last dollar they had building a cadillac.

Nice.

Very nice. You can definitely see where ideas were borrowed yet it remains a unique piece of KMRR rolling stock.

Shawn, if you ever get tired of it you can throw it out here. lol!

Cool.
Does the Woody use the same motor block as the Mack?

For what is worth, those are great small motor blocks. Held in by one screw for the whole differential and rear axle assembly. Available from HLW for $25.00.

What is the part number or how do I get information on one of these. This looks like it might be the solution to a dilemma I have with a large scratch build put on indefinite hold because I can’t seem to find an appropriate means to power (4)-3 axle power trucks.

Bob call the parts dept 402-571-2933 just say the motor for the woody. They have strange hours only a few days a week.

If you see HLW at a train show, like ECLSTS at York. Just talk to the ladies and give them your money. The motors will arrive in about 2 weeks. It always looks like they are just there showing off product, but they do take orders.

Thank you gentlemen. For my project an email will most likely do as well.
