"King of Pop Passes"

I had never seen this video until today, after hearing of Michael Jackson’s passing! Guess it just shows how his fame (good and bad) transgressed even into our trains. How do you remember him??? The Regal

I remember him in the 80’s taking my young daughter to his live concert in Denver. Whatever he was, good, or bad, he was one helluva entertainer, and gave us our money’s worth for two hours + that nite and it brings back fond memories, every time I think of it. Sadly the “live” part is gone!!

He was born a black male and died a white female. He won’t molest anyone else again.

Heartbreaking to see what the smiling, talented child in the Jackson Five videos became by the time of the 60 minute interview of 2003.
A tortured soul now rests.

From my many years of investigating pedophiles, we can “thank” some significant male in his childhood, the father or an uncle perhaps, for abusing him when he was a child. I hope they sleep better knowing they were most likely the cause of his perversion!

I heard speculation that somebody put a mirror in a place he could see it and it was just too much for his heart. The radio said we were all mourning his death, but nobody told me. I’ll try to work it into my schedule.

In honor of Michael Jackson passing, McDonalds is introducing the MJ Burger…50 year old meat between 10 year old buns

Due to the fact that Michael Jackson is 99% plastic, will he be melted down into Lego blocks so little kids can play with him for a change???

Yesterday was a bad day for white women – first Farah Fawcett died and then Michael Jackson.

Read where he was $400 million in debt, must have known a lot about finances to in order to have gone thru so much money in such a short time.

Not to throw water on the moment, but to put it into perspective. Yesterday, Staff Sgt. Josh Melton of the Illinois National Guard was returned to Clinton County, Illinois after being killed by a road side bomb in Afghanistan. This is our first service man killed since the Viet Nam War. That is a lot more troubling news in this area, than the deaths of a freak and a pretty girl way past her prime. Josh gave up all his tomorrows, so we could live free today. It is difficult to waste thoughts on trivial, self-absorbed freaks, when local families and friends are laying a real local hero to rest.

Let's add another perspective. The "freak" had three children. He did contibute to society........as his music brought joy to millions. He did indeed, become a "freak". As Andre' alluded.........something pretty awfull must have happened to him as a child to make him the "freak" he became. The big tragedy is not in his death.......but in his life. Like I said before.....a tortured soul now rests. Ralph

I agree. I also agree he /she whatever "it" became was one hell of an entertainer like Limbaugh and Beck currently are.

Without doubt Michael was a man of a great talent.
Personally, I will remember him for his early work,
such as “We are the world” song which he co-wrote
with Lionel Richie,

or his song in the “ET- The Extra Terrestial” film,

the song won a Grammy Award best recording for children.

Hmmmm … another interesting thread!

BTW Ric, all three of them examples of popular American culture!

Just to second Ralph B’s post. I have 7-8yrs of law enforcement background, and as a private person you are “innocent until proven guilty” As a law enforcement officer, believe me you are “guilty until proven innocent”. And that plays out everyday with the public, and sometimes with law enforcement personel. A few of the people who have posted seem to forget that he was NEVER convicted on anything. And before you comment on paying off the kid, his lawyers told him, it was the best thing for him to do at the time, (that’s called lawyers advice) and not for the reasons you are thinking of. Watch the interviews now with the attorneys that represented him. They didn’t think his health at the time would allow him to go through what it would take to get physically through the trial. The guy is deceased, and there are really only 3 people that know the “TRUTH” that is MJ, the kid or kids, and God. He will be judged accordingly, so alot of people have convicted him in the press, and in life everywhere and always will, and everyone is entitled to they’re opinions, but that is all it is!!! He was NEVER convicted of anything. I will remember him for his music and the pleasure through his concert we went to in 88-89 that my 9yr old daughter and i experienced at his concert in Denver. Cheryl Crow was just starting out with him and did a duet with her that was really out of this world, a real sentimental, tear jerker. And the concert was great, people were there from 5-80 and the old ones i remember a specific couple was dressed in yellow and black just like MJ. That’s just my view, and or opinion, and I’m sticking to it… The Regal

Thank you Jerry. My 10 year old grandson was over here today and found this thread before I saw it. Boy that wasn’t fun explaining it to him and his mother. A model train site, who would have guessed. You just cant be too careful when it comes to your kids. I am sorry I let him in to Bob’s bar.

RIP Michael, Gordon

IIRC, MJ admitted to “sleeping” with young children. At the very least he was weird. He and his “art” were never popular with me.

All this IS illustrative of our current culture, how many place their favorite celebrity/politician/cause on a pedestal only to be gravely disappointed when he/she/it is found less than perfect.

I will say, from a human standpoint, I am sorry for the family’s loss.

My apologies, Gordon.
Sometimes we forget that we have others besides us old grouches wandering the halls here.
