Kindles

Just learned about the Kindle the other day from Ric.
Technology again excedes common sense. Authors want paid twice because the Kindle can “read” the book for you.
So now this feature will be turned off on the books and you will have to pay extra.

There are at least two new electronic book tablets ready to hit the market this year that will compete with the Kindel. As with all electronics the first versions are the most expensive and lacking in features. I would wait at least another year before making the purchase of one of these ebooks. The big players like Apple and Microsoft have not made thier plans known for how they might jump into this market. Then there are the game companies with their handheld game consols. I can see them adding a book reading feature that would just be a plug in chip to their existing units. Right now I would rather invest the money in another engine.

Big John

When I was considering the tow boat gig I was taking a real hard long look at these things. Luckily I’m a Scifi reader and I’ll read a book more than once as such there are a lot of cheap older books on the Kindle list… Still I’m gonna wait for the big boys to weigh in over the next year or so, and stabilize on a format…would like to be able to compose on it too…
