Ken Brunt Arrives on the POC - 13 Photos

Ken Brunt arrived in Port Orford today…

The Noon Mixed arrives. There is an air of excitement because an important VIP is supposed to be onboard.

Prexy Al Falderall himself waits expectantly the arrival of Ken Brunt.

He hurries to greet his honored guest.

“Brunt? Brunt? There’s no Brunt on my train.” says the Conductor.

“Call security quick!” orders Prexy Falderall as a freight train slowly follows the departing passenger train to the depot.

“Don’t worry Mr. Falderall. I always get my man.” says Res. Officer Bisby (he always wanted to be a Mountie).

As they were talking a loud rumbling noise coming from the freight train attracted the attention of the ever watchful Bisby.

The obtrusive noise proved to be snoring. Two feet protruded from a stockcar with an interchange load of sheep from Bellingham, Washington.

“You in there! Come out…and leave those poor sheep alone!” orders Officer Bisby.

After a somewhat traumatic encounter with the law the stowaway was found to be none other than the irrascible Ken Brunt hisself!

Soon Ken was doing what he loves most…operating trains.

“Hmmm! Wonder what this button does?”

Looks like Ken enjoyed himself. I know we enjoyed having him. Come again soon Ken…anytime!

Good pictures, Richard…good guest too…

Great pictures. Maybe one of these days I can make it out there as well!

Ok, Richard. We’re having too much fun…

Excellent pictures and story…as usual!

Wow! Great story and the truth comes out, Ken does like to run those trains. Richard you have been honored with the presence of a true American. Ken is Ken. You get what God gave him and that’s pretty good. Always fun to be around him. It also look like he was having a good time. Jan says Ken doesn’t smile much and yet, in at least one picture, you got him to smile.

I always wondered how to get to Port Orford.

Not paying much attention to the captions, I thought fer sure that the feller in suspenders, in picture 3 was Ken. Later pictures of this feller show him to be quite a bit more rotund then Ken - but the face ain’t bad

I met Ken for the first time at Freddie’s American Invasion '06. He was a lot of fun to hang out with - I’m sure you enjoyed his company. Great story & pictures. Thanks for posting.

Some of the folks claim that this is Ken…just needs the hat replaced with a ball cap…

And maybe lighten the hair?

Great stuff as always! nice pics!

Big Deal with Ken being there in Port Orford…

I’ll bet he didn’t derail a car like some other visitors have.

Well he did go through an open switch. I didn’t mention it because I didn’t want to embarass him like I enjoyed doing to “another party” or, as I’m doing to him now. Hehehe!
  :o

Hehehe…You personally opened that switch just to make me look bad…didn’t you??

The method to his madness Tom, is distracting you with his idle chatter and having you not pay attention to what's going on. ......;) That's where he gets you..............

All kiddin aside, Richard was a wondeful host for the short time I got to visit him and his wife. I’m not sure what I enjoyed more, the drive along Oregon’s coast or visiting with Richard. Both were unforgettable experiances.

Toured Mt. Ranier, Mt. St. Helen’s, Crater Lake, but the high point was Port Orford.

Thank You Richard!!

Absolutely Ken…While out of the main thoroughfare…Port Orford is a must stop in any sojourn to the state of Oregon… Richard and Helen Smith are top notch people

We did the tour of Crater Lake this summer while at Train Mtn
