Has any one replaced the dummy coupler on the pilot of the 2-4-0 starter set with a kadee ?
I used a 831 0n the truck of the tender/ easy pilot not so easy
Any idea’s!
Well!!!
I removed the dummy coupler .
I cut up a 830 @ the end of the staight shank and cleaned it up!
I inserted it into the coupler pocket and drilled a hole thought both!
I used a small nail for now.
Coupler moves side to side a little and looks much better!
It is alittle high / not much to worry about!
I will not be putting to much strain on it!
Sean,
I’ve replaced all the dummy front couplers on my LGB Mikes, Mallets, etc with just the KD 820 knuckle.
I trim it a little for length and slip it right in the same slot as the dummy one came out of. Fasten it with a small screw. It’s just for looks.

So it can’t be used for its intended purpose?
Is there a way to do it so it can be used? I think that is where Sean is going with his question.
Hi all,
A little over a year ago and again at last years ECLSTS I spoke to the people at Kadee Couplers and they stated they do not have a Coupler for that locomotive pilot. They did say that they would be willing to look at the situation if I sent them my 2-4-0 which I did not do. I am sure that there is something in there line of couplers that can be adapted but there is not a stocking dealer in my area so I can get a hands on measurement.

Hello Ron .
I did get the baby @ piano works down by you!
50’s this weekend!
Hello Sean,
Well it’s about time we get some TRAIN RUNNING WEATHER here on Old Cape Cod. I have had my 2-4-0 for about 2 1/2 years now and it is a GOOD runner Only problem I have had is at times the HEADLIGHT won’t work, it’s either a bad bulb or a loose wire. Hope you enjoy your’s as much as I have enjoyed mine. Some day I want to change out the front coupler but haven’t been able to put my hand’s on the right coupler as yet. No one on Cape Cod sell Kadee couplers for G Scale.
Happy Railroading,
Ron

Pack a lunch and drive off the cape!
Go to Charles Ro !
Life will not be the same!
Sean,
Thanks for the advice but I already know about Charle Ro Supply, I grew up about 5 miles from his store and I also knew about Eric Fukes that WAS on Tremont Street in Boston. Between my Dad and myself we have spent many a dollar at BOTH locations. The hard part is just going off cape to an area I am not FOND of any more.
Happy Railroading,
Ron
