Kadee Couplers instal on Climax

I have been updating my Bachman Climax, doing all the great ideas I have found from many of you here. I have installed the Revolution with sound, battery power, hard wired the motors, and removed the tabs over the trucks. It has all worked to improve the engine. The one problem I have is with the installation of the Kadee #782 couplers. They are very tight in the pocket on the mount and don’t move easily from side to side. How have other Climax owners installed these so they move freely in the pocket on the mounting?

Its been many years since I Kadeed my Climax, but if I remember correctly, I had to slightly enlargen the hole in the coupler shank so it moves freely. Also you have to make sure the mold bump on the back of the shank is trimmed off.

Thanks Dave problem solved, coupler moves freely in the pocket with just a little machining. Now on to logging and mining operations!
