Large Scale Central

k-28 #476 makes her debut, and other layout photos

K-28 #476 made her debut on the layout today. It is an LGB/Aster K-28…originally numbered as 473. 476 will be the primary freight loco, while my other K-28 (473) will remain as the passenger loco.

Here’s #476 indoors right after getting her final decals and details posing next to clean #473:

#473 pulling the San Juan:

And some other random layout photos:

And as the sun was going down I thought the shiny rail heads looked nice:

I even had some visitors (turkeys) to the layout this evening…but this was the closest photo I could get:

One of my favorite locos. I’m envious.

Keep an eye on those turkeys. When they scratch the ground looking for food, they can destroy everything. I know this first hand when some invaded my property.

That is quite a pair of locomotives! You have a nice looking layout and town. Is that in Colorado? I see two “homes” listed with your name.

Thanks for the heads up on the turkeys John. So far they have been good and tend to run away from the layout area. But if I notice them starting to claw near anything I’ll chase them away. They spook real easily.

Yes Colorado. Northeast of Durango in the San Juan mountains (7,800 elevation). Our HO and O scale layouts are in California.

Impressive layout!!

Matt, engine and layout looks great, after all the re-hab from the Elk…

That’s for sure. Pretty much rehabilitated all the track on the layout.

Took a while to redo the track. But trains are running super smooth now (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)
