K-27 battery R/C version # 4

I have just finished another Bachmann K-27 battery R/C + Phoenix P5 sound install. This was done slightly differently again. I fabricated a small sheet of 1.5 mm thick styrene to mount the ON-OFF switch, Charge Jack, Phoenix volume control and programming jack. Here are the dimensions I used:

The plate is mounted under the front lip below the front of the coal load and avoids drilling any holes in the tender shell or chassis.

I used the RCS BIK-U3+VC which has a built in volume control switch. However, you could use any sort of switch you wished.

Tony,
So is that accessed by taking off the coal load?

Sure is Ric.

I make the coal load easy to remove by drilling a small hole in the apex of the coal and inserting a small self tapping screw.
The coal load is still a press fit to maximise the sound seal.

BTW. This idea is not mine. David Whellum had something very similar.
