You failed to convince her that the best spot for the patio furniture was under the trees in the shade.
However, she had no problem convincing you it was the best spot for your RR. 
Now you just have to convince her you need more track to fill the larger space.

Considering that half the fun is building, you’ve got a lot of fun ahead of you 
It’s tough finding shade plants and dealing with the tree litter, but I think you will really appreciate the shade. Most of my layout is under trees. I think the cool temps are worth the extra clean-up.
And that shed looks like a perfect spot for a Man Cave
Put a bay window on this side of the shed and a deck between the tracks and shed with a roof over hang and you can put all your electric supplies inside. When it rains you’ll have an indoor operating station.
I like the new area.

You know I have to agree with Dave. Make yourself a “Man Cave” and enjoy your part of the world. But in a big fan and suck the coolness out of the woods.
