Large Scale Central

Just off the wire....... (LGB)

Kevin

G45 is the company Richter of EPL Patentwerk “sold” LGBoA to. The President of G45 is David Buffington, not to be confused with being the owner of G45.

From what I understand the “G45” plays on the ability of many scales being “suitable for G” as long as they fit on 45mm track gauge.

Do you mean to tell me that the Märklin’s F-unit was not even as close as the LGB F-unit? Or was that just an “impression”.

Kevin, G45 is the name of the parent company for LGBoA.

HJ, you need to realize that what Jack said, and what LGB Germany did to his dimensions are two different things. He got it as close as they would allow. Jack doesn’t make final decisions. And reading between the lines I’ve often felt that LGBoA would have liked things a lot closer to scale than they ended up being.

As far as G45 having deep pockets goes, that’s a relative term. Compared to my retirement income pockets, yours are bottomless…:frowning: If I were in G45’s position I darn sure wouldn’t be going around bragging about how much money I had…and I’d darn sure play it down if my pockets were bottomless. They may not have the pockets as deep as Kingsbridge/Marklin but I’d bet they have enough (with investment partners) to make it fly.

In the mean while we shall sit back and enjoy the 3 ring cluste…er…circus.

I just found it. My msitake. It wasn’t recent. It was the August 1997 Garden railways, page 50-51.

The model is dreadfull. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. It has molded lumps to represent windshield wipers, visible screw heads all over the body, and most of the pilot is missing to allow for coupler swing. What I can see of the trucks is equally bad.

I haven’t looked at an LGB model up close (I’m not into US railroading much), but from the few I’ve seen, nothing jumped out and said “bad”.

Maybe Maerklin has released a real model of the F7 more recently. I certainly hope so.

Warren-

The proper internet term is “fuster-cluck”.

 Still the same circus with the same clowns playing the same act…

Many names, many names few of them chosen by him.

OTOH

Mr. “just watch me”, sure was worthwhile watching.  One could hate his guts and still be in awe of his intellect. Intellect wise it has been downhill ever since as the Canadian PMs go. At least in my opinion.  Vision? What’s that?
