Just moved to NJ

I didnt make this up got it from an e-mail. It goes around whenever we get a snowy winter.

Subject: Moved to New Jersey in August
August 15 - Moved to our new home in New Jersey. It’s so beautiful here. The lake to the north looks so majestic. I can hardly wait to see it snow covered. I’m going to love it here!

October 14 - New Jersey is definitely the most beautiful place on earth. The leaves have turned all the colors and shades of red and orange. Went for a ride through the park and saw some deer. They are so graceful. Certainly they are the most wonderful animals on earth. This must be paradise, I LOVE IT HERE!!

November 10 - Deer season will start soon. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to kill such a gorgeous animal… Hope it will snow soon. I love it here. Those red and orange leaves have covered my yard. Looks like a magnificent multi-colored carpet. HOW BEAUTIFUL. Raking and cleaning up the yard will be an opportunity for invigorating exercise in the cool crisp air.

November 15 - Ah, more leaves and more exercise.

November 18 - Jesus, still more leaves. Guess it’s best to wait until they’ve all fallen before I rake again.

November 25 - Finally, all of the trees lost their leaves and with today’s final raking it’s over for this season.
Chiropractor suggested I use a lawn maintenance service next year. Only four blisters became infected. Should probably remember to use gloves.

November 30 - What the f…? Where did all of those leaves come from? Had a little wind last night and the lawn is covered again. Oh well, they’ll just have to wait until spring.

December 12 - It snowed last night, FINALLY. Woke up to find everything blanketed in white. It looks like a postcard. We went outside and cleaned the snow off the steps and shoveled the driveway. Had a snowball fight (I won) and when the snowplow came by and we had to shovel the end of the driveway again.
What a beautiful place. I Love New Jersey!

December 14 - More snow last night, I love it. The snow plow did his trick to the driveway again. I Love it here.

December 19 - More snow again last night. Can’t get out of the driveway. Can’t to get to work. I’m exhausted from shoveling. F…ing snowplow.

December 22 - More of that white **** fell again last night. As if dealing with the leaves weren’t bad enough, now I’ve got blisters all over my hands from shoveling, must remember to wear gloves. I think the snowplow hides around the corner and waits until I’m finished shoveling the driveway. The *******.

December 25 - Merry F…ing Christmas. More f*ing snow. If I ever get my hands on that son-of-a-you know what who drives the snowplow, I swear I’ll kill the guy. Don’t know why they don’t use more salt on the roads to melt the f…ing ice.

December 27 - More white crap last night. Have been inside for three days except for shoveling out the driveway after that plow goes through every time. F…ing gloves got wet and then froze on my hands.
Doctor said it was just a mild case of frost bite, disfiguration is probably only temporary. Can’t go anywhere, car is stuck in a mountain of white ****. The weatherman says to expect another 10 inches of the **** tonight. Do you know how many shovels full of snow 10 inches is?

December 28 - The f…ing weatherman was wrong. We got 34 inches of that white s*. At this rate it won’t melt 'till summer.
The plow got stuck up the road and the b* came to the door and asked to borrow a shovel. After I told him I’d already broken six of them shoveling all the s* he pushed into the driveway, I broke my last one on his f…ing head.

January 4 - Finally got out of the house today. Went to the store to get food and on the way back I hit a damned deer that ran in front of my car. Did about $3,000 damage. F…ing beasts should be killed. Wish the hunters had killed them all last November.

May 3 - Took the car to the garage in town. The thing is rusting out from all the f*ing salt they put all over the roads.

May 10 - Moved to Sarasota Florida. I can’t imagine why anyone in their right mind would ever live in that God forsaken state of New Jersey

Um. sounds kinda like here.

Wait! It never mentioned the picturesque ripples of the sun setting as viewed through steam rising from the toxic waste dumps, or stopping every 10 feet for a toll booth, or guys in purple turbans screaming at you in farsi for being dumb enough to try to pump your own gas? Must not have been originally written about any Joisey I ever visited… hehehehe

Now you know why in NJ the F word is considered just another adjective used every 3rd word in common speech, school children are taught is proper usage and use in sentance structure just like any other f’ing word in the f’ing language, Yo wadda ya f’ing lookin’ a me like f’ing that for, I say somthing f’ing wrong??

You must have been to the bad part of NJ. Its unfortunate that most people see the bad part of the state and the movies dont make us look good. Hey thats ok because it keeps people away. Most of NJ is very nice

Shawn,

You’re right … most people think all of N.J. is like the N.Y. metro area and the “shore”, it isn’t. Upstate and western N.J. is beautiful. And believe me, if you lived in the metro N.Y. area you’d be fing out of your fing mind too!

Walt

I’ve been to the wilderness part of Na’Jehsey…it was called “Newark”

Got the same email at work with the state changed to Connecticut. I can’t wait for spring when we’ll all remember why we love the Northeast.

I've thought about other places Jon but don't think I will ever leave the N.E. I love it here! :)

One thing I remember well about New Jersey was going across the Betsy Ross bridge going to Camden then back the same way. I found it interesting that you could get IN to NJ free, but had to pay to leave. I also remember thinking they were missing out on a great revenue source, 'cause I’d probably have willingly paid TWICE as much just to get my sorry butt OUT of Philly!

Second prize in a lottery drawing was a trip to Newark, N.J… First prize was you didn’t have to go.

I have to agree Rooster. The NE is a great place to live.

Mik you can thank Phily for Camden also the 2nd most dadgerouse city in the country. That doesnt help NJ get a good rep. The one way tolls are actually joint owned by NJ and PA. We were smart making people pay on the NJ side that way when the river floods and takes out the bridges we get to keep that money lol Mik you have to take the Milford Bridge or the I80 bridge. You will the real Garden State

Its too bad they put one of the most busy airports in Newark. Thats what people see of NJ as well as the subs of Phily (camden) We get stuck with Phily slum.

Well Shawn,
All I can say is if people have been paying attention to the pictures you post…
they’d see it is beautiful where you live

Much like Michigan is associated with Detroit, rather than the beauty of countryside and the Great Lakes.
Every large state has it’s a**hole and armpit. Some are just more well known than others.
Ralph

Although all the bridges that cross the Delaware are owned and operated by the Delaware River Port Authority, for some reason the Delaware Memorial Bridge in Wilmington has cheaper tolls than the rest of them. Plus you enter a much better part of Joisey…

There’s a joke that it’s always windy in central PA because Pgh bl#ws and Philly s#cks. Both of them have streets that go right where you need to go… but they’re one way in the other direction.

If I even have to drive in Detroit again, I’m not going. They build cars there and still don’t know that the little stick on the left side of the steering column does anything, or what them blinking lights on anybody else’ car mean… or that the LEFT lane is for left turns, not the right one.

I still think NY and NJ are in some sort of competition to see which state can build more toll booths. Spendell wanted to get PA in on it, too… till the feds told him “No”

And since I mentioned driving, we saw about 10 wrecks yesterday, and were almost IN another TWICE - First because some #$%& decided to illegally pass a truck on a curve, then again when somebody decided that he didn’t NEED to look right to turn left out of his driveway… Why is it everybody thinks they are a great driver, but so many actually drive like a baboon in a bumper car?

As for the ‘pretty part of the state’… If you live there - Keep quiet about it. It used to be pretty by my mom’s -15 years ago - rolling farm and woodlands. Today it’s ALL ‘barn on a postage stamp’ type developments for city folks who want to live in the country… but don’t want actual country anything anywhere near them.

So true Mik.
The high taxes keeps most people away from my area. They jump the border into the Poconos were it is a lot cheeper to live. The Poconos these days are not what everyone thinks. Its all city trash with gangs etc… Not the Honeymoon resort it is or was known for. Hey thats good for NW Jersey keeps the trash out of my area but bad for PA.
Hey did you ever get that check and decals in the mail?

yep, it came. your box goes today

I guess if you lived in New Mexico or San Diego, they could call this area the NE, we just call is Southern Illinois, please don't associate us with Chicago.

NJ Transit has been improving the commute to NYC for the last 20 years - mostly by connecting the various separate commuter lines that used to finish at the Hudson. The old Lackawanna Cutoff which speeded up the trains running that way is almost completely owned by NJT, and they are seriously planning commuter trains from Stroudsburg PA (west of the Delaware Water Gap, on the eastern edge of the Poconos,) into NY -- because the traffic on the roads is too bad!

On the same topic, once the rail route is complete, there is talk of running excursions from Scranton Steamtown all the way to Hoboken Terminal using steam power.

That has been in the works for years now. I will be very suprised if it does happens. It would be nice to see it happen because it would run along the viaduct across the Delaware and in Hainsburg. At the time that was the largest one in the world. Paulinskill Viaduct http://history.gsmrrclub.org/history5.html To run a steam train from Scranton to the Hudson would be cool. I live about 30 minutes from here and get to patrol this area from time to time. Few years ago I got to rapel off the below viaduct for high angle practice

Trail going under is part of the Paoulinskill Valley rail trail.
