Large Scale Central

Just finished my "winter" woodworking project

I had a few other woodworking projects to finish first for friends before I worked on my indoor lay-out last winter. I never got to that though. http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/lastmanout/_forumfiles/DSCN0272%20(Medium).JPG

It is made from quartersawn red oak. The finish is dark mission oak and amber oak 50/50 mix; two coats of boiled linseed oil, two coats of amber shellac and three hand-rubbed coats of Briwax dark brown wax. I just installed the Stickley brass hardware today.

Very nice of you to sacrifice the RR for your friend !
The entertainment center looks great.

WOW, great job!

David;
You are a true friend. They are lucky to have you as a friend.
I never had a friend that would do that for me.
My hat is off to you.
That is a beautiful entertainment center. One lucky friend.

Nice work, indeed!

That sure is a lovely looking piece of furniture David. It would grace most homes.

(I used to sell furniture for many years so I recognize nice things when I see them)

Very nice

Oops Sorry! Clarification: the entertainment center piece is ours, the pieces I made for a friend were to display and store his trains.

Nice work David. I really enjoy working with wood. Unfortunately I don’t have the space for a shop, nor most of the tools. Quite a few years ago I did manage to knock together a custom book-case to fit an odd shaped area of our hose with only a circular saw and a borrowed router.

All finished with brass hardware added.

(Yes that is a VCR player. The BetaMax didn’t fit.)

You get the hardware from VanDykes?

David, I did, but sent it back because it was cheap plated crap with no detail. This was special ordered, solid brass.

understood…
