Could be worse … I’m in the middle of detailing my micro layout but I have to wait days sometimes weeks for stuff I can’t get at the LHS to be mailed to me

The dearth of stuff currently available in G has left me high and dry re: new ideas/new projects. That’s mostly why I am working on smaller scale micros.

I don’t understand vic. . . how can you run out of ideas or inspiration in G scale? I can see running out of real estate but not ideas.

I need a bit over 1 linear mile of real estate to scale model every inch of the 23 miles of my prototype railroad. That’s doable isn’t ?

Its not run out of ideas persay. Its run out of real estate to store them and I find myself repeating ideas. They may not look repetitive to folks here but they are for me.

My current big idea is a sort of step backwards, to see if I can restore adding an R1 circle to the pizza. Given my storage problems inthe garage the fixed layout is on hiatus for a while and I miss the R1 circle the pizza had up to a couple years ago. I want to be able to run my “big” stuff LOL.

Devon,

take it easy.
there are all kind of beans in this sack eh… forum.
white beans, black beans, Mr.Beans, soy beans… you get the picture.

for me personally the case is glassclear. the hobby is for me - not me for the hobby.
during the last half month or so i did not touch anything on my layout, because other things caught my atention.

if we would make an “unfinished projects” contest, i would be able to make at least a dozen entries, wit the stuff alone, that is easily found in my mess. - and so what??
if i am not in the mood, to finish “that thing” it stays unfinished.
… untill… maybe…

I just got up and took a shot of the laundry room;

The workshop looks much worse and the dining room table is a travesty. Like I said, it helps that I’m a bachelor and can get away with this s–t.

Wow! You have a laundry ROOM? And what are the two white box-like things, one with a kind of a porthole that opens? And what goes in the thing that looks like a drawer?

MY laundry has to live in a basket until there’s enough there for mrs tac do the wash. As usual, down on the rocks in the stream near the stepping stone. A couple of miles there and the same back, uphill in both directions, it’s a real chore, but SOMEBODY has to keep an eye on the TV while she’s out doin’ it.

Hey, you missed out human beans. BTW, did you get my email, asking if UPS operated where you are?

You are acting like a child.

Excuse me, acting like a child is MY prerogative.

I have several places where I can work on projects.

That way when I want to take a break from a project I can.

Currently I have my work places nearly filled and the Challenge is fast approaching!

Now what?

I was telling someone the other day, this hobby is a stress reliever while I’m working on a project. But causes me a lot of stress when not working on it because I think about all the different projects I need to finish, or have plans to do.

I agree with having multiple projects at the same time. If one gets to be too much work, do a little on something easy. Then you can peck away at the hard work in little chunks in between other projects.

Someone once told me my old man had beans…

Did someone mention beans?

Devon, I always have 2 or 6 or 10 RR projects in some sort of disarray. That’s what keeps me from getting bored to death. It took me 3 years to build my mining complex.

I remember Mik used his laundry room as a workshop as well. The top of the machines were covered in paint.

Check closely, Boomer. There is a different deductible for Steam or Diesel.

what’sthat? - oh yeah, i see its that thing, my wife insists to open more than once a month…
i’ll check it when i open it next time.
but any how, ups does not come here
only one company that works with dhl.

I can relate. “Modeling” never happens as fast as “thinking of cool stuff to model”, which gets really annoying sometimes.

“Just a rant so please ignore.”

Okay!..

That’s actually a pretty good way of looking at it.

This was my whole point. Just about the time I get rolling on a project it spurs ten more. So I am building a loco which led to want to build a display shelf to put it on when its done when not in use. Then I wanted to build a trestle. Now I want to build a shelf that is a trestle to deisplay my train on. Ha Ha Ha So today I have been cutting bridge timbers.

Does “unfinished” me started on or still bouncing away inside our heads? I have a few of those too!

Since my disease is narrow gauge steam, my insurance wont cover that at all. It seams its such a rare, old, disease that they have given up finding a treatment or a cure for it.

Yeah. Diesels give you cancer.
