Just asking a question, Bob. If one were to post a joke about, say Billy Mays, or some other “non-political” personage, would that be acceptable? What about Pollock, or blond jokes? Is NO humor allowed at all?
Again, I say it’s your sandbox, your rules apply, but they should be equitable. Don’t you agree?
David,
If you remember, Bob tried “Off Topic” and “Jokes” with a relatively free rein for a while.
It was OK when the jokes were self deprecating, somehow neutral, or somehow clean.
Wasn’t so much fun when your “political” ox or “other group or catagory” ox was getting gored.
It drained me to read those threads after awhile.
It ended up being a contest with the unwritten rule that the “last word” somehow had the upper hand, which caused bickering threads to go on forever.
I’m glad Bob kabobbed them…
Let’s talk about trains…
Sincerely,
Joe Satnik
Fair enough. I just thought the joke was funny and generic enough to post. I didn’t like being called an a-hole for posting it, and felt bad Alan Lott’s thread was closed.
What was that all about…? I didn’t even know that Bobby was around much anymore to edit the forums…
Father Fred.
If he isn’t it is thankfully down to not needing to be.
Banning, and enforcing the ban, on controversial content is the smartest thing he has done with respect to this forum.
Peace reigns and there is more modelling being conducted than ever before.
Now if I just knew an Amtrak joke! There must be humor there somewhere!
Actually a steam engine joke would be more in my interest area!
OK, I’ll go back to my corner.
Did you here about the steam engine and the trolley who went into a bar?
The steam engine had to leave.
They didn’t allow smoking…
I know- lame…
Steve Weidner said:There were actually rules/laws against locomotives emitting smoke. A properly designed and fired loco burning good coal should emit very little smoke, which is why I am not vastly impressed with photos of locos blasting out vast trails of the stuff. :D

What a switch!
Now, we’re off-track - derailed.
For further entertainment, ask yourself if you know of a commercial alternative to the infamous LGB pricy red cleaning block rubberized material? Maybe 3M has a secret formula only available to machinests and metal workers.
This is a shameless plug for a new posting inquiry.

I am not familiar with the 3M product Wendell, but I have found all sorts of alternate uses for the crepe rubber block used for cleaning sanding disks and belts.
When I mark lumber with a pencil for cutting or layout, theses crepe rubber blocks make great erasers.
Just saying.
If you want to get oil off stuff, try using a seagull.
