On July 3, 1776, the day before signing the Declaration of Independence from England, John Adams stirringly penned, “I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means.”
Have a Happy one!
mrs tac and I, and the family ig and ken the GFT and all the boys, wish the United States of America and all who therein dwell a very felicitous birthday.
tac, mrs tac, ig, ken the GFT and the Birthday Boys.
Happy 4th everyone. Thank you Boomer for those passages & images.
Later today Marilyn and I will defy Hurricane Arthur and drive North to Lenox, MA (with rain gear in tow, just in case) to be part of an Independence Day Celebration at Tanglewood with music by James Taylor and (hopefully) a fireworks display. If luck is with us the hurricane will track just a little further East and the rain will be minimal or stay away.
For those who have suffered damage from this storm as they wake up today you can take comfort in the fact that because you live in this great country, your neighbors will all pull together for a speedy recovery.
Happy 4th everyone. The Holiday weekend tends to be the busiest for me at work. I will be spending it working a 16+ hour shift today. Jon hopefully things clear out for you by afternoon.
Happy Birthday

History shows that Mr. Jefferson's tome was signed on July 2nd, and published on the 4th, which is why Mr. Adams above could say what he did on the 3rd of July. Happy Independence Day, America!
Ken, thank you for the video clip. You, be careful and don’t eat too much! Paul
Thoughts and prayers to all caught up in the bad weather, and stay safe.
@Jon - please give our best wishes to Mr Taylor, of whom mrs tac, tacdottir and I have been fans forever. We saw him live here in Cambridge a few years back and it was totally unforgettable.

Ahhh; what an impressive group of young ladies in that orchestra…and, the added bonus is, that they are a proper BAND, not just a bunch of sick looking strummers on “Gitars”. Oh to hear more good MUSIC, and less noise…
AMEN, Father Fred!!
