Large Scale Central

Jon's Tavern

Jon Radder very kindly designed the logo for the Pacolet Valley Railroad. As one good turn deserves another, Jon now has his own business. Recession proof, as it sells the only joy juice in town. The Jackson Dairy will be getting new signs. Parking meters and street lights still need to be installed. The third building, a Hotel, is nearly finished. Ralph

Nice row of structures!

Looks good Ralph. Those are Colorado Structures, aren’t they? You reinforce them any?

Hey, I kinda like Jon’s Tavern!

Jon.

Jerry,
They are CMS.
I used acrylic to reinforce the walls. However, it is probably not needed.
The walls as they come in the kit are pretty heavy.
I put a floor in the upstairs of the garage building.
I didn’t do any reinforcement of the roof. I’ll have to wait and see how that turns out.

I have an interlocking tower that spent a season in the hot sun without a problem.

Ralph, Very nice business section for the town…that must be were all the shovel ready stimulus money is going!!!(no politics only humor!!). Nice color choices for the buildings. Dave

Ralph, Down town is really coming along.Looking good

Dave

Are they old sock curtains?

Yes,
Old socks.
Ralph

 great idea

Neat. I think reinforcing with acrylic is a good idea. It won’t yellow like some glazing, and your window panes will never fall out.

Well done.

Thanks guys. Mostly just paint and glue. The nice thing about using the acrylic, you can do the entire wall at once. Much quicker than one window at a time. It is also very clear and looks better than the thinner glazing provided with some kits. The one thing I don’t like about these particular CMS kits is the roof detail. Comes with 2 chimneys. I just didn’t like the look using both chimneys. So I added a few details to each. I’m building a TV antenna now. Ralph

Yes, there’s a LOT you can do with roof detail.

I need to do more myself.

Al least he knows how to spell, eh ?

Ralph -

I’m flattered, and impressed by your work. Now I’ll just have to run downstairs, grab a cold one and toast the grand opening

Beer to go - sound just like me !!!

Here are how things look lately. Bruce opened a Hotel, so Jon would have some place to go “sleep it off” Nice to have friends in high places  The Hotel entrance still needs some benches. I’d like to put some tables and chairs on the side of the cafe. With luck it should be installed on the RR soon. Ralph

Hey, pretty neat!!!

That’s quite a block you have. I’m looking forward to seeing it in place.

Really nice block!

Reminds me of downtown Spencer…

Yes,
It reminds me of many small towns, where the “new” highway by-passes the town. Unless you get off the freeway and take the “business” route,
you’d never know they were there.

I wish I had done a little kitbashing with these, as Marty over on MLS did.
I had planned on making the hotel 4 stories, but the project was taking too long.
So I decided to just finish it as is.
These Colorado Model Structure kits have great kitbashing potential.

Still need to build a Church, grocery and Depot.
And the town still needs a name.
