July 2 this year will be John Allen’s 100th birthday. The poster below tells how we can mark the occasion. Model railroaders 'round the world: mark your calendars! Look up your favorite flapjack recipe. Call your friends. This poster is in the public domain. Please right click, copy it and post it on other sites you visit where railroaders gather. Thank you. Cheers!![](http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/choochoo_chaboogie/_forumfiles/JAM Breakfast 003.jpg)
John,
It looks good, but diabetes prevents some of us from partaking in that kind of breakfast. I will celebrate the day with the cup of coffee though!
It’s not exactly health food, is it Joe…?
It’s a symbolic thing. In the company of other railroaders if possible…
Have the tiniest little finger-smear of sugar-free JAM you can manage.
Or maybe just one strawberry. Turn it into JAM in your mouth! vbg
It’s hard to believe it’s his 100th birthday. I remember reading a lot of his articles in Model Railroader years ago when I was big into HO. I will tip a cup of coffee tho. Later RJD
My two model railroading mentors: John Allen and Frank Ellison…wonder how old he would be now?

Thanks Joe. That was interesting. I have the book mentioned by the way.
WOOW,really makes me feel OLD.
Lineups are forming up here around Toronto for this breakfast, also Monterey, Cape Cod, New Zealand, Phillipines… all over. We now have downloadable posters and boilerplate emails in several languages for those who would like to help out by posting to Sp, Mex, Fr, It, Polish sites. My German translator has been very slow in coming back to me, unfortunately… If you know a German who could do it PDQ let me know. Also looking for a Japanese willing to help with a translation. John Allen very big in Japan, a god, practically…
What do I remember best about John Allen? He had a dinosaur on the layout!
What do I remember best about Frank Ellison? He removed leading trucks on steamers because they were a pain!
Hmmmm…

Sigh! There’s a critic in every crowd. hehehe!
Richard … that’s just what I remember best, not as The Best! hehehe
Get your strawberry jam this weekend! Tuesday’s the big day.
It’s easy for Canadians to remember as it’s the day after their national holiday July 1.
Much harder for 'Murricans with their day not 'til July 3.
Just kidding, guys… everybody knows it’s the 5th. ;- )
Sumbuddy mention a 5th?
