Job Oppertunity

Maybe he just like going to China but then how come he has to spend all this time and money sending proofs back and forth to approve. Might just as well schedule your trips to coincide. Later RJD

See where AC just locked that thread on operations over seas. Guess AC could not take the heat for even starting their own thread. Maybe some of the reply’s could have became reality and AC just thinks that doing the work over seas is the best thing to do no matter what. Looks like they need to start thinking out side of the box. Later RJD

Lewis got his own thread locked. hehe

Basic economics - High Volume, Low Margin or Low Volume, High Margin. Basically, Bachmann fits the prior scenario, and Accucraft tends to fit the latter. I have seen examples of both with exceptionally poor quality, so even pricing is not indicative of quality.

Unfortunately for any manufacturer, they are frequently left with unpleasant decisions. I am sure Lewis and other manufacturers in this country did their best to keep the business here. There are inherent costs that are incurred and passed on to the consumer in doing business overseas. How does anyone expect American manufacturers to compete when the Chinese labor force is producing for pennies on the dollar for what American labor is paid in both direct payroll and benefits. Especially when the American consumer is only interested in ‘how cheap can i buy it?’. Unfortunately, you can’t have it both ways.

I am sure many are aware of these facts, I just thought them worth mentioning.

My tuppence worth.

Bob - Within the hobby, you may consider Bachmann high volume, but believe me, in the world of manufacturing, they are VERY LOW volume. Not really wanting to defend them (or Aristo, or anyone else), but that is really why there are so many problems. Just no opportunity to get the bugs out. It’s pretty much a one shot deal. (This is contrary to what I posted in another thread about Aristo, but this is really the way it is. I should get points from Lewis for this?).

Edit: I guess it was this thread. Have another beer?
