Jim Beam Train

Hey guys, a friend of mine inherited this set and is planning on selling it. All of the decanters are unopened and in-tact. Just curious if anyone had any know how , or even an idea of the best place to sell.

Thanks,

Matt

If they are empty, Ebay but they are not that valuable, if they are full then the USPS doesnt allow mailing of alcohol.

Do a search on Ebay and then watch the auction items to see what the final selling prices are.

Here’s a link to one of the Jim Beam Decanter sites:

Might give you some idea of the value of them.

Happy rails!

Had the same train lucky to get $75.00, all was full.

I did Craig’s list

Don

A second hand store here had 6 of these plus the track. They finally went for $60…All most all of them had paperwork and the original boxes.

Time to drink a toast to railroads.

Well it seems like you guys are right. There may be more money in un-drank booze than there is in the train itself. I’ll have to throw the idea his way of drinking away the blues of disappointment hehe.

Thanks for the input!

Matt

I don’t think you can sell them on eBay if they are full of alcohol. You need a licence to do that where I come from but hey, nudge nudge, wink wink… You don’t have to let Elliot Ness know about it.

It’s funny because 15 years ago when I started my career it was for a Wine and Liquor wholesaler

and the Liquor stores that had them were selling between 300.00 to 500.00 each. Now you can’t give them away.

My wife and kids gave be both sets as gifts years ago - They look great on a shelf, - do gather dust though - The liquor evaporates over time… I occasionally see them on “evilbay” they don’t command large prices - Might be best to just enjoy them.

They are like Avon bottles and other stuff. They marketed them as collectible, then made so many they were not worth anything. The liquor inside is probably more valuable.

Ebay is loaded with Jim Beam (and others) decanters of all shapes and sizes, some are interesting, but none of them seam to go for very much.
