I got the new issue of GR today, and saw Jerry Barnes’ article on building a small boxcar out of a New Bright toy. Very nice! But I especially liked the one-cylinder Shay he had pulling it. I checked his website and saw he has a page on how it was built. Great work, and very inspiring! I may try something like that myself someday. I love funky little locos like that.

It was a lot of fun. Got some parts from Dave for it. Took a LOT more work than I thought, but had fun and learned a lot. Marty Cozad(also from Nebraska) has an article in it also.
Yeah, the mechanical stuff looks like it would be a pain.
