Jackson & Burke Critter and Motor Car Serviced at the V&T Shops

Following on to Jon’s report, and during the same TrainOps event, the V&T RR shops gladly received from the J&B (aka Bruce Chandler) two motive power items.

The first is Bruce’s “critter,” which is seen on his website, where an excellent photo log is kept:

This is all brass, and my first (and only) brass rolling stock item. Heavy! I love it.

This is my first experience with RailPro, and wow I love the color touch screen controller!

Service consisted of speaker replacement (Bruce had mentioned that there was no sound, and the speaker was the problem), a small bit of wire management, and minor cleaning. It now runs great, sounds great!

Bruce or Jon, that wire was sort of taped to the ceiling; is it for a RailPro antenna, or…?

The second is his “motor car,” which also has a nice build log here:

I didn’t need to do a thing! Worked perfectly with its Train Engineer controller. All I had to do was replace the controller batteries and charge the truck’s battery.

Linda and I are very happy with these wee beasties, and can now show up on anyone’s layout and cause trouble!

Thank you Bruce!!!

PS, if you’ve not been to Bruce’s web site, JBRR.COM, there’s a wealth of info on what he’s accomplished in our hobby. Dive in and enjoy!

RailPro has no external antenna. Probably left over from a previous control system like RCS.

Now you have me motivated to spend some time on the 10 wheeler.

VERY jealous you scooped up the critter.

Back in the day when the critters were young and the ass was thin!

Thanks for posting those, Rooster. I so wish I’d started going to KOPS years earlier!
