J&S cars used in yards as stores/offices

I have a Bachmann Big Hauler range J&S Combine from which I have removed the trucks and end railings to use elsewhere.

I want to use this Combine as grounded building in my station area as a yard office/store and am looking for extra ideas. I have a fair idea of what I am able to do - within my capabilities - but I wonder if anyone knows of any web site links that might help just to enable a little authenticity to the project.

It shouldn’t be too hard to find some pictures. It’s still fairly common in the US to find old coaches used as buildings. The end platforms would probably be cut off and some type of foundation added, perhaps just timbers, around the base. Pretty much if you can think it up it probably was done.

EDIT: My Google Image Search turned up nothing, so maybe it’s not so easy to find pictures

Thanks for a prompt reply Jon. Yes, I did a search: without success, hence my post. Anyway there is no panic and I am sure something will come up.

I will trawl through back copies of Classic Trains. Maybe there will be something there. lol

How about this pic.

Search “Vance Junction” for one idea.
Then hit “pictures” or “images”.

Sean, your pic did not load. JB, can you be a bit more specific? I’ve thought about using cabeese and combines as yard offices, but leave them on trucks and short track with steps up to the level. Just thought about it.

Thats weard it was up and running fine. I did take it from another site but it was my pic??

Thanks for trying Sean, but it didn’t load for me. If you have issues try e-mail.

Vance Junction, Colorado Depot had a coach on the right side and a box car on the left side, with the depot in the middle.

Here is a photo, Vance Junction.

This looks like the real thing, long after abandonment…

Thanks folks. I like the pics, gives good thoughts and of course the boxcars are a bonus as I hope to modify a couple of them later on.

What a pitiful sight the last pics are with those relics just rotting away.

I have been looking through the web but so far not much has shown up. I think, as the Colorado pics suggest, that the Heritage and Historical web sites are going to be the best place to start looking. Ah! well, at least it is educational and far more interesting than the drivel on TV.

I found the following link: not what I was looking for but some may find it of interest.
