Large Scale Central

It's that time of year again -- watch out for snakes!

Yesterday while taking my walk around the neighborhood, I found this young, foot-long rattlesnake a couple blocks from our house. He was sprawled out on someone’s driveway, right next to the sidewalk. I alerted the homeowner and asked for something to contain the snake. I easily herded the snake into a plastic wastebasket they provided, so it could be picked up later by Animal Control.

Last year at this time I rounded up a two-and-a-half footer that our neighbors found under their trash can. Haven’t found any rattlers on my layout yet, but did catch a kingsnake on it last June. BTW, a couple weeks ago I got some pics of a very large, creepy looking spider that was wondering around in the parking lot at Chili’s. If you’re interested, you can see it on my website: http://www.raydunakin.com/Site/Wildlife_At_Home.html

Well he’s a cutie! Saw our first snake of the season here last week, a common Gopher.

Like snakes…HATE spiders!

I attended a High Angle Rescue class all last week and on one of my rapels there was a black snake sprawled out on one of the ledges. Caught me off guard. ol
