Large Scale Central

It's official! We're trailer trash!

Put the downpayment down this afternoon on a 14 x 70 rent to own fixer upper… Beats the heck out of ‘the projects’ (except they don’t call them that here) No more landlord’s secretary’s office right outside the door handing us a lease violation every time one of us farts in our sleep! No more human cockroaches for neighbors - now we’ll have rednecks! (You might not think it an improvement, but trust me, it’s a BIG one!)

I can have a garden RR again, and a workshop/shed (10x14 max), and Kim can have her bulgy-eyed rat-dogs who climb on people’s heads, and… Oh, happy day!!!

Congrats! It’s great to be a homeowner. Now YOU have all the headaches.

Mik,

It is not a trailer, it is a “COACH”… Lived in a 12’ x 70’ for about 6 years… Every body should have to experaience the thrill of a shotgun house…

Allen, Kim, Sara, and Mairi, congratulations on the new home. May you “Live Long and Prosper” in your new home.
JimC.

Congratulations, to be a home owner is one of the best feeling in this world!

Mik
That is great news. can’t wait to see the pictures of the new place and the new shop.

No more coffee stirs in the bedroom Mik? Good move looking forward to the pics

Shop= someplace to keep the oxyfuel rig, ac/dc welder, free standing drill press, and bench w/vice... Maybe get to finish my 1/3 scale Oil Pull tractor and steam roller that have been on hold and in storage for the last 5 years....

The ‘baby’ projects will probably be done on a card table straddling the coffee table… sure AIN’T anyplace in the bedrooms to swing a cat, let alone build a RR.

Pix? Before or after we UN-‘dump’ the place?

Mik,
“The ‘baby’ projects will probably be done on a card table straddling the coffee table… sure AIN’T anyplace in the bedrooms to swing a cat, let alone build a RR.”

Congratulations on the new castle, but - “Baby projects on the coffee table, no room to swing a cat in the bedroom”.

Your wife may want you to keep this stuff off of a model railroad forum.

Congratulations Mik.
It has been nearly 25 years since I’ve lived in a single wide. I still consider it a step up from an apartment.
The last time was in Texas. 1/4 acre home owner owned lots.
The neighbor next store was busted for a meth lab. Yes, there were meth labs 25 years ago.
The neighbor across the street was busted for operating a stolen car ring and chop shop.
No need for reality TV. Life was very entertaining

Both :stuck_out_tongue: !

BTW 70 ft in length should be good for a streetcar line from one end to the other.

You made damn sure the location isn’t in tornado alley, didn’t you!?!

Smalll Snip

“Swing a cat?” Are we talking about a literal cat, or the Naval Cat?

Congrats Your outdoor RR should be up in no time at the speed you work. Cant wait.

Congrats !

BTW, did someone also get ya all seasons of “trailer park boys” on DVD this past Christmas !!? . . so you can be well-informed on etiquette

i like that street car idea up high thru each wall, the length of the unit. In the bdrm ya could have the announcement, “all aboard” . . . before it heads back out front ! Great resale value next owners may have cats . . . .

If it doesn’t cost money it’ll get done. If it costs money, then it will have to wait in line after a bunch of foam board insulation, liquid nails, inexpensive paneling, and long drywall screws . (That stuff will pay for itself over time, but will set us back a minimum of about $7/ft to cover all the (interior) outside walls). And a new carpet or linoleum in the ‘great room’.

Then she wants a used washing machine and new bathtub before I get my shed … typical female screwed up priorities, lol

We’ll also be in the market for used thermal windows, and building a new porch next summer too. I’ve begun to think I should rent her that Shelley Long movie (The Money Pit), BEFORE she gets any more good ideas, lol.

Mik,
The renos/up-grades are all worth it. I know, I lived in northern BC for 5 years in my 12 X 56, sometimes -40 to -50 and the furnace never seemed to shut of.
As for the bath tub get it for her right away, they like to take long liesurely soaks and it gives us time to do our ‘stuff’. Keep them happy and they stick around and tend to over look somewhat the spending on trains. I should know, on my 2nd one now. LOL.
Good luck with the up-grades.
Randy

Congrats Mik. Good luck with the new place.

Mik,

One of my favorites. My wife thinks she is Lucy. I keep finding rocks in our trailer that she has picked up on our travels  EDIT - Almost Forgot. Our family trailer tradition began quite a while ago when my grandfather and grandmother purchased this trailer for a winter home in a brand new park in Mt. Dora Florida. The year was 1955…
