You all act like children.. but it is a toy train you are talking about
Bill,
there is basically self-moderation on this site and a protocol to be followed. You have only just joined the site and as you get acquainted with the members, you will realise that it is all good fun. Do not let this aspect of the site impact on you. Many like the regimen available on other sites where a strict regime of moderation, must be followed. The site owner/moderator allows a wide degree of freedom and interaction between members and will only step in if the language becomes insulting or abusive. If the responses do not appeal to you then may I suggest you move on to another thread topic, rather than stirring up the pot.
In my opinion. I note that the picture of the Bachmann offering has the gear in neutral, also I further note that the expansion link is shoved unrealistcally a great deal forward than one would expect in “normal operations”. Of course as it is a fictitious loco it prob doesnt matter. “Never by a 1st year model” Who said that ? Oh and here is (yet another) gratuitous pic of my home made one. (any excuse)

Tim the pot was already stirred when the troll word was used. I don’t mind name calling, I just thought that calling someone a troll is rather child like. I mean we are talking about little pieces of plastic. And my comment was meant in good fun! You all might remember that this is an open fourm which allows everyone to read and comment. If you don’t like me commenting on others behavior perhaps you should move on to another topic. Remeber this is not your back yard.
Bill Whoeveryouare,
you are new to the site and obviously do not have experience of the site as do others. You are free to respond as much as others are free to respond to any and all topics. You passed a comment as the the childish nature of one or more responses. My point, that you overlooked, is that if offended by the nature or content of a posting then simply move on as there is no benefit gained by inciting a posting, whether in jest, or not. As stated in the prelude to the General Forum, a thick skin may be required when entering the forum.
The word 'troll' has not been used on this site for a long time and has a very particular meaning. It is a descriptive term for a particular forum activity. It is the activity which is immature (though you choose to call it childish), not the word 'troll' in itself. Troll is a definitive term. Do you actually have any idea what a troll is in relation to the web (it is not an ugly goblin hiding under a bridge, ready to eat young children)?
Timmy you’re wraped a little tight- lighten up. Are only you allowed to joke or comment? do I have to post 940 times before I’m good enough for you? It seems you have the thin skin here.
Billy Whoeveryouare,
Experience is in the character of the person and not the number of postings one has made. Post away, as, so far your responses have been immature oneliners offering no interest or substance to any discussion. Will that be the calibre of your remaining postings?
Tim I am sure you have made more than your share of one-liners in your 942 posts, you may want to check. So, once again you complain about my immaturity, and pass judgment on me while, complaining that I have thin skin for pointing out something. The caliber of my posts may someday rise to the level of if it waddles like a mallet, and quacks like a mallet, then it’s a meyer. Secondly, I will post my full last name on a public forum when I think it’s safe to put that information there. Which, with thought police like you around may be a while. You all may want to think very seriously about the risks that this poises when dealing with strangers who may not be able to tell the difference between humor and precived insult.
I think we have beat this topic to death. Feel free to comment of course but, I will not respond, unless we are talking about the merits of this engine. Look it’s not a oneliner post! It is off topic though.
Bill S, don’t give up now, just when this is getting good!
Ok, so here we are four pages later and I still find myself asking one questions.
Is this thing worth the money? I could not tell you the diff between a mullet or a meyer and personaly I don’t modle things that close so to me it dosen’t matter. What I look for is :
- dose it work and for how long.
- do I like the way it looks.
- the price.
and lastly.
when it breaks can I get it fixed.
So, is this worth it or is it just another peice of junk like the annie I have.
Also, welcome Bill. hope your not to put off by us. Were a good group once you get to know us.
Geoff buy the darned thing if you like it (looks and all) if it is not to your liking then just sell it somewhere and get your money back if dissatisfied with the thing. Me personally I do not like the looks (spare me the mechanical rivet counters) If I buy it and I like it I keep it, if not to my liking or get tired of it, something new always comes along anyway just sell it. Never had any ambition to tear into something that runs down the track and goes roundy round myself, but that’s me. I’ve bought over 300 items everywhere, and if it doesn’t look right or run right or to my liking it’s gohttp://www.lscdata.com/users/blueregal/_forumfiles/fancycat.jpg.gifne. Down to about 6 engines now, looking for maybe 3 more so far. The Regal
Well said Bill S.! Consider this my, one liner for the month.

Be careful Bill S.
When they get frustrated they start calling you “Marvin”!
