Doug - Can my brother make a lap or two with the air inducted fan locomotive?
Sure John, I will put him on the list.
I’ll send out all the details this morning. The note from Fairplex came just as I went to bed!
Rick Brenner, who is handling Special Events at the Fairplex Garden Railroad, sent me these details last night.
Your club members should arrive at about 9 AM and enter the fairgrounds off McKinley Ave. They should park as directed by Security- they may or may not be able to drive up and drop off trains at the Garden Railroad. It might be advisable for your members to bring a cart to help bring their trains on to the fairgrounds. Often, Security does not allow visitors on to the grounds after the show opens, which in this case is 9 AM. You may park outside gate 1 and walk in- security can direct you to the Garden Railroad, a short walk from the entrance gate.

Doug,
I have run at Fairplex since the first one in May 2010. I would advise you to definitely get there before 9am. Security will most likely let you drive up to the layout to unload your stuff. But that can be “iffy”…depends on how the security guard feels that morning. We always park in the lot for the administration building. Walk over to the layout and ask one of the volunteers for one of THEIR carts. Seems to work out well that way. Last November, I took my Accucraft C19 and about a dozen freight cars. We had quite a bit of walking. Just be prepared. I brought my stuff in the original boxes and was able to store those under the staging yard when I ran. NOT going to do that this year. Small passenger train with the C19 and NO boxes. Keep it simple. You don’t want to “misplace” your things. It can be a little nerve-wracking the first time you run out there, but it is great fun. The volunteers at the layout are the best and will make you feel right at home. Good to have someone with you to help out.
