Large Scale Central

It finally happened

The old TV was 24+ years old and finally the stars aligned i.e. the feature set and the price of a 42" Smart TV coincided where I had determined it needed to be.

I finally get to see my creations in a larger 1080p format than my 22" display. As the New Englanders say “It doesn’t look half bad!”

Now you can get rid of your VHS tapes and watch DVD’s.

We progressed to DVDs quite some time ago, but with the minimal amount of TV we watch the two points had to match up before we would spend the money.

PS I even hacked the DVD player so it will play EU and NA discs.

What are dvds?

Dave,

They are round, flat and handy.

Congrats. Now, with the Smart TV features, the NSA can watch YOU!

That will really make my day … every day. When ever I call, or receive calls from, overseas we make it a point to send greetings to the spooks. Then we discuss just how stupid those guys are, using the most recent and most relevant examples.

That way they know that we appreciate their “efforts”.

I too joined the world of modern televisions last weekend. Gave away a 1999 27" CRT TV on Craigslist and picked up a 42" 1080p 120Hz LED at a nice sale price. Traded in the cable box the next day for one that receives the HD channels. What a difference!

I decide against the “Smart” model. Instead, the one I bought supports the Roku Streaming Stick to give us Netflix, Amazon Video, Vimeo and lots more right in the TV.

Sheesh Jon, I guess I should put a “free to a good home” ad on Kijiji. Last year we picked up a perfectly good, trained Seppala Husky that way.

Still have to check on the HD with the cable guys. We’ve had one of the small biz packages for eons — website, cable internet, cable TV and cable phone.

BTW I needed to download the app for VIMEO and then … I found out that I need a “Magic Remote” to run the app.

They have you coming and going and every other way inbetween, too.

I’ve had HD TV’s for many years now.
Used to have VOOM HD satellite when they were the only HD provider. Unfortunately, they were “before their time” and went belly up.

Did without an HD signal for a long time. Upgraded the satellite system to HD yesterday.
Don’t know why I waited so long. I knew what I was missing

10ºF this morning, today will be an editing and turnout building day. Got that Magic Remote, works like advertised … once I had it paired.
