The bottles are allowed…they make you take a drink.
I don’t know what the rules about bottles are, but this is the way they have handled it in several cases I’ve seen.

If what you say is true, then I don’t understand why Northwest made a point of telling passengers on the 30th December Tokyo - Detroit flight I was on about the restrictions regarding liquids on US domestic flights.

I’ve seen it happen many times. Maybe you can have a bottle in your hand…but not in your carry-on.
Or maybe the rules are just not enforced.

You cannot take liquids through the security checkpoints, but once you’re through, you can buy bottled drinks or whatever from any of the concourse vendors to carry on the planes. The airlines know better than to deprive their already-testy passengers of their Starbucks.

Yup. And inside the security gates at O’Hare you could buy a Wine Opener kit that has a really nasty corkscrew and some other weapon like tools. I pointed that out to the clerk on a trip a few years ago and they just laughed.
Hey once I’m on a plane, whats to stop me from using complemtary Kleenex tissues and those little-bitty vodka bottles to make mini-Molotov cocktails???
