Hello All,
I am in search of a chuff sensor for an older LGB mogul if anyone has one in their parts boxes or knows of one available for sale.
Thank you in advance,

Which part or both?
Axle unit or electronic sensor with wires. Did you need the whole axle?
Dan,
Electronic sensor with the three wires and no I do not need the whole axle.
Thank you,
Nico
Dan,
Do you have one?
Thank you,
Nico
He works for Train-Li so if you need one he could get it !
There are 2 types of Mogul chuff sensors with 3 wires.
Unfortunately Trainli has neither.
The first generation Moguls used a metal plate on the rear axle for the chuff sensor, 2nd generation had what looked like a disk. Sensor was different.
After that they went to hall effect sensors and with the sound board in the engine added the bell and whistle sensor with hall effect on the same board.
The hall effect board is available from Trainli via Modell-land with this part number 80501004
This is the first generation Moguls with the metal plate on the rear axle for the chuff sensor.
Nico
Nico,
I believe I have what your looking for, I’ll report back.
Michael
Nico,
Do you have a picture of the sensor you need?
Michael
Michael,
I will send a picture tonight.
Thank you,
Nico
Nicco,
I’ll look again, I’m confident I have said part, just have to locate it.
Michael
Looks like just an IR diode and IR source… does the metal plate have a notch in it?
Just curious, never seen one.
Greg
That’s what it is Greg. And on the axle is a plate that passes between the IP emitter and IR transistor (sensor).
The sensor does 2 things:
it is the chuff sensor.
It limits the side to side play of the rear axle. I never remove these as it makes the engine more stable.
