Yup, our government supported the Taliban and trained their fighters and provided them with arms and munitions.
We just never learn to keep our nose out of other’s business.
Yup, and it led directly to the final victory over the Soviet Union at the end of the 50 year Cold War, without even one nuc-u-lear weapon being used.
Pretty good bargain, don’cha think?
Wars sometimes make for strange bedfellows…

And the Muhjadeen in 1980 showed me how to down a Soviet Hind D Helicopter with rifle fire…shoot dead center of the Red Star under the Pilot’s Cupola and it will fall like a rock…either some part of the avionics or hydraulics are located just under the skin of the aircraft at that point.
Scary isnt it?
The roots of the Taliban can be traced directly back to the US support against the Soviet invasion of Afganistan, and Bin Boy was actually supported by the US early on in his career.
Yep, the real reasons we won the Cold War was A: that Reagan started a new arms race that buried the Commies by outspending them right into the poorhouse, the commie economic system simply couldnt keep up with Ronnies new military arms race and the economc system just imploded. and B: Western culture always found its way into the east, by the 80’s Glastnost allowed enough of the west to filter in that the people realized that what they had was far inferior, they began to demand change, that demand from the inside which flowered in the fall of the Berlin Wall in '89, when the entire population simply decided they were not going to tolerate the systeml anymore and en-mass walked across the border and it was the PEOPLE, not an army, that ended up tearing the wall down almost BY HAND, the fact that the Soviets held their hand and did nothing to stop it, allowed the Wall, the most potent symbol of east/west conflict, to be torn down, signaled the effective end of the Soviet Union and the Cold War. The Proletariates (workers) spoke, the Soviets (leaders) listened. I always wondered if after delivering the “tear down this wall” speach what Reagan thought at that moment in '89 when it actually happened, I personally was absolutley riveted to the images, the 20th century changed that day.
And George Washington was a British Army officer, early in his career. I guess the Brits trained the Father of Our Country. Amazin’, ain’t it?
Moshe Dyan was a member of the Haganah, arguably a Jewish terrorist organization, depending on who you are. The Haganah later became the cadre for the Israeli Defense Force. In fact. the word Haganah became part of the official name of the IDF, “Zeva Haganah Le-Yisrael†Old Moshe went on to become a respected world leader. Amazin’ ain’t it?
Steve Featherkile said:Yup, traitors the lot of them :D Was it B Franklin who said "We hang together, or we hang separately"? Or, as someone else (I forget who) observed, "There are no successful traitors." (The successful become Fathers of Their Country).

As Yogi Berra said, “I knew I was going to be late, so I took a different train.”

I thought Yogi said “I knew I was going to be late, so I left early”

I grew up in the Marine Corps and can remember the first images of people bringing the wall down with their hands. Damn, it’s like it happened yesterday. That was the first time in my life I didn’t think I’d die fighting in a war on foreign soil.
