Is this a good rpice for Bachmann C-19

Got an email from Al Kraemer (ne: San Val) who must have opened up the old storeroom to move some stock. Lots of Bachmann locos (Shays, etc), and a selection of C-19s at $749. Is that a good price? Not that I’m buyin.’ Just askin.’

Just checked the web. Micromark has the C-19 for the same price.

Wonder what’s up? New locos? Going out of business?

I’ve been wondering the same thing.

As I recall when first hitting the street the C-19s were fetching between $800 and a $1000 bucks. I didn’t want one at the time so didn’t think much about it. Then this winter I decided I needed a C19 in my roster, remembered seeing $650 pricing on ebay last summer and went looking for it only to find Al’s price was now the lowest at 750.

I thought it was him, but perhaps not - but somebody had lots of stock on Ebay for less… so I’ll wait to see if I can get that price again.

Al Kramer had them for $689 only a month ago.
They will eventually become old hat and go down again when Bachmann dump half their remaining stock to keep the cash flowing. Bachmann no longer have 2-6-0 or 4-4-0 on their site so I wonder what’s next?

Remember eons ago when Bachmann Connie’s were $800?!!

I remember a little less than eons ago when they were $200.

The best price I’ve seen them for is $575 at the ECLSTS. Nicholas Smith had them.

It was tempting…

I think I paid less than $200 for my Connie on “closeout” 4 years ago or so. I’m glad I have more locos that I’ll ever need. These new prices have put Bachmann locos out of my reach.

I paid $175 for mine about 7 years ago from Hans at Gold Coast. But many years ago, Al Kramer,

had some Connie’s at a show at the Pomona Fairplex. This was probably mid 1990’s and IIRC he was selling them for $800. I almost bought one then. Now you can’t find them anymore for any price, unless someone is hoarding them in some dark warehouse!

Aw, c’mon Jon, filling the roundhouse is never about “need.”

It’s certainly a fair price for what you get. Compared to LGB and other locos selling for that and more, you’re getting a loco that runs better and is much more detailed. But it’s still a chunk of change, no doubt. You can certainly take your time and shop around to try to find a better price, but $750 seems to be the going rate for these locos at the moment. RLD and Reindeer Pass have them for $770.

Later,

K

Yeah, I’m hoarding the Connies. Gonna chop up two for an outside frame garratt.

There is a new one on eBay as we speak for $300. I do wonder why the box has X’s marked on the end though. Broken gear perhaps?
Never opened, ignorance is bliss…

Saw a Consolidation for $200 at a local show a few weeks ago. Might have to contact the seller and purchase it.

You might have to do that…the “stash” is getting thinner! AND Barry’s BBT drives are STILL available…at least at the moment.

I saw one, bumble bee, at the York show for $575. All ready owning one, it was hard to walk away. Payed $780 over a year ago…Jim

I could have been as long as 7 years ago. Hard to believe I’ve been doing this for almost 15 years now. The changes in the RR and roster all seem to blur as time passes. Dated pictures are the only way I can be certain!

Kevin, my new loco is sitting beside me. It’s the Fuji X100s black edition, which I bought because I drank the Strobist and Zack Arias photoblog KoolAid. Nice piece.

What’s a C-19?
