Is it just me or is there some “interesting” ads showing up on LSC. I think Bob is providing eye candy to attract new comers. Sex sells right Bob?
Google ads show ads based on your browsing interests. I have no control over what ads you see.

This has come up in the past here, and on a few other sites I am on. Google knows all.
For example, the two ads on the main page for me is an ad for 3d printing filament, and World of Tanks (a game I play). If I refresh, I get an ad for WiFi routers (I bought a new one a few months ago) and an ad for Speedy Metals.
Lol damn I’m busted. While I was unaware I was searching for sexy womans PJs, I am thinking of buying my wife a flannel pj with a butt flap.
When my dad died and mom moved, we called one of those junk places. I got ads for 1800gotjunk for TWO YEARS after that.
Now a survival backpack seems more inline with my search habits. But I do have to confess that my wife dressed in a buttless flannel pjs and wearing a survival backpack is right up my alley
Well I admit I did go to the upper right corner of the computer screen and click on those three little dots and make the screen image bigger, so I could checkout the ad better. If you don’t think Big Brother is watching you and knows what you click-on, these ads that pop up should tell you something. I follow other forums, not just model trains forums, travel trailer and camping forums, Jeep forums, and I get ads all the time for these items. I have my POP UP BLOCKER turned on, but the ads that appear on websites are out of my control as I’m sure they are for most of us. I guess when you get this stuff for free, someone is paying for it and the ads should tell you who.

“BUSTED YOU ARE”
Chris;
HMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm! That could also be said of some of the women in those ads.
Have fun, David Meashey
Not only your browser history but your smart phone listens to you. I was in a coaches meeting at the begining of the season and my phone was on the desk. (We were on Zoom) the volleyball coach mentioned 2 or 3 times how she needed new uniforms. For the next week every ad on my phone was for girls Volleyball uniforms. I coach high school boys soccer.
Scary it is.
I see “Hose and Rubber” supply and another ad with a strange domed object named Leica BLK which I don’t even know what it is. I’m not sure what this says about what they think my interests are, but, on the other hand, maybe I don’t want to know!
Update: Okay, I checked on Leica (more clicks, more money for Bob!). It’s some kind of imaging device that costs $18,000. They must be crazy. They must think I own the place.

Scary indeed.
But I’ve always really like your herald!

Now here is a guy I miss seeing. Our friendship has been sustained from our involvement at the ECLSTS. Good seeing you post Scott. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
couple years ago, a guy on a science site I used to frequent posted a link to a big box store add for a large metal salad bowl - the shape and material were right for an experiment we were discussing at the time. I clicked on the add, decided it wasn’t especially interesting, went back to the debate. But…for weeks afterwards, my ‘add sidebar’ kept offering me deals on salad bowls.

Was it Leica or “Like-her”! LOL
Actually Leica is a German optics and camera company that’s been making cameras for many years. Some of the best in the world. They’re known for making the clearest glass of any lens manufacturer in the world. I have a 1962 Leica M4 35mm camera with 12 lenses in total. My dad was an amateur/professional photographer and he picked it up at the Leica factory in Germany on the trip with my mom when I was just 1yr old.
Those algorithms aren’t too smart. They can’t figure out that if I just bought something, I’m not going to buy it again no matter how many ads they show me.
What is puzzling to me is that I keep getting ads for women’s clothing, and I am not a cross-dresser! Sometimes I may be cross when getting dressed, but REALLY, that is NOT the same thing!

I never look at the ads. I guess I’d better look! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)
